Ordinarily, when I reserve a car and am offered an alternative I take it because it's usually an upgrade. This time, when I showed up to pick up the AWD/4WD SUV I'd reserved and was told there were none available, I did not accept the pickup truck I was offered as my travel plans included a stay in the mountains of northern Arizona and southern Colorado (where weather and driving conditions can be unpredictable). Once I explained why I wanted the vehicle I'd reserved, the customer service rep at the counter did everything within his power to find exactly what I was hoping for at a nearby location. Another employee then drove me to that location, expedited the check-out process by taking care of me personally (instead of dropping me off and having me wait in line). As it was, I did end up driving home in snow, sleet and occasional heavy downpours...and, thanks to the caring customer service I received, I drove confidently in the perfect vehicle for conditions.
