Wow! Joined this weekend and used a 20 percent off coupon to buy a Yakima Skybox. So impressed with the employees. They are upbeat, helpful and knowledgeable. The lady who registered us was great as well. Craig in the bike shop is helping us with a situation and he is on it. Impressed!

I just became a REI co-op member to purchase supplies for an upcoming backpacking trip. I bought a backpack and sleeping bag in-store and after further research found a better backpack and used a 20% off coupon to purchase the same sleeping bag online. I went to return my unused items and Daniel at the counter gave me grief the whole time about how thatss not in the spirit of the co-op and I shouldnt use the coupon on something I essentially already bought. Understood. Sorry. He then questioned me through each step in the return and overall made me feel very bad about the whole ordeal saying we really want to stay in businessweve posted 3 straight years of losses. Once the return was completed I asked if he could bring my online pickup order and he did not seem interested in helping me at all and told me to check-in on the email which brought me back to my car for curbside pickup. I really love REI and it was not my intention to undermine the co-op, but this experience really soured me toward the whole thing, especially after having spent $500+ since joining 2 weeks ago. At the end of the day I was using my membership benefits to return unused items and was made to feel like Im the problem. I drive a good distance to get to get to this REI and Ive had positive experiences prior to this one.

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!! I went last week for my 1st time & when I walked up to the cash register there were 7 employees at the rcounter. NONE of them greeted my family & I. They all were talking, I cleared my throat & then a MAN dressed as a woman came to help me & kept pushing about signing up to be a member talking about returns blah blah blah & he kept trying to make small talk with my 4year old son (who was very uncomfortable) & when I would try to steer his attention away from my son he would just go right back to it. In the end we walked out in a hurry, feeling very uncomfortable, drove an hour home to then realize that the whooooole time that worker was talking our ear up distracting us from making sure we got our receipt, knowing good & well we couldnt return/exchange our items since we didnt want to sign up for the membership & he clearly didnt plan to put the receipt in our bag. But jokes on me for not signing up cuz when I called the store they told me without a receipt or a memebership there was nothing they could do. Never shopping at this specific location again
