My family and I stayed one night during our trip to Texas from Florida - we just needed a place to sleep before we resumed our trip.
The location is in very close proximity to I-10 and the price is much cheaper than other nearby chain hotels. Locating the entrance to the parking lot was a bit of a struggle at night, though, so we had to do a few u-turns. Parking is free, well lit, and is close to the office.
Checking in was simple and the overnight clerk was friendly enough. Our first impression was that it's an older hotel that's working on renovations.
It's when we got in the elevator that we started to notice the issues. The elevator floor was sticky and there was trash in the corners. Once we stepped off the elevator, there was a strange musty odor; smelled like an old laundry room. The smell only got stronger as we walked down the creaky hallway towards our room.
Once entering the room, we located the light and were very relieved to not see any cockroaches scaling the walls. I put our stuff down and inspected our beds. A few of the pillows had dirty pillowcases, so we put them on the table, but the sheets looked okay. When getting the kids ready for bed, we realized the toilet seat was broken and very loose. The TV worked and had directv, so that was a plus. However, the handset for the telephone was missing - not a big deal if you have cell service. Our beds didn't smell fresh, but we were just wanting to go to sleep after driving so long. I did not want to deal with the hassle of changing rooms.
Sleeping was kind of difficult due to the thin windows, which weren't soundproof whatsoever. Every car that passed by overnight was very loud.
Once we woke up, we noticed some issues that were not visible in the darkness of the night. First, the window itself was not screwed shut or locked. The glass panes were incredibly thin and could probably be pushed out with little to no force. Kind of nerve wrecking with small kids on the 4th floor. Looking at the sheets we noticed blood stains and hair, which was pretty disgusting. I'm fairly certain that the bed sheets were never washed when the room was flipped. There was also mildew in the refrigerator.
Checking out was quite simple and the gentleman at the desk was very pleasant. The complimentary breakfast had simple offerings with juice, pastries, cereal, yogurt, and oatmeal. After seeing the lack of cleanliness in public spaces, I seriously doubt they follow proper food handling procedures. The handle of the refrigerator that held the yogurt was broken so the door didn't close fully.
I would not recommend staying here if you are a family and can afford the $30 or $40 more would cost to stay at a nearby location. I would just chalk it up to an isolated bad experience if it weren't for numerous other negative reviews.
Would expect better accommodations after spending $130 for one night.

The clerk upfront was terrible! She had a very nasty attitude and talked about the clients. We will never return to this location!

Mrs afternoon shift is a bit grumpy. Room door did not work unless U kick ,it! Pull the handle Up not down!! / Window latch was broken. But. Hey. We were on the next to top floor! Missing a filter in the room Air-conditioner, n the other was dirty. Pealed off a layer of dirt!
