        The Racine Double Tree is one of my favorite spots to get away from the city. The hotel is attached to a supper club restaurant via an interior hallway. We enjoy the prime rib and some Wisconsin style brandy Old Fashion cocktails at the Supper Club and then walk back to the room full of liquor and prime beef without fear of getting a Wisconsin DUI. The rooms are well appointed and the facility is clean and well run. The staff are competent and efficient. Our favorite type of room includes the deep soaking tub with the harbor view. The upgrade is worth it. The hotel has a pool and is kid friendly. If you don't like kids, let me suggest a visit in February. If you are from Chicago, the trip is 60 to 90 minutes give or take. Observe how well Wisconsin maintains its highways. Wisconsin gas stations are clean and the staff polite. Wisconsin people are very nice, even if they don't mean it. We enjoyed a meal at the Brat Stop in Kenosha along the way and stopped at the Mars Cheese Castle on the way home. Both are good spots. A weekend trip to the Double Tree in Racine is a convenient respite from the noise and chaos of the city.
