Daughter went in to make sure she didn't have pneumonia. Her chest is feeling heavy and has been sick for about a week. One staff member rolled their eyes at her. She was told to get in line to get tested for Covid. No one wanted to exam her or take the time to listen to her. She was pretty persistent in being seen. When she finally was able to see a doctor the doctor stated she had Covid without even examining her. I understand we are in pandemic but not every illness is Covid. Doctor was just as rude to my daughter and would not listen to her. Told her to come back if she starts coughing up green stuff because that would be an indication of pneumonia. Definitely won't be going back to Gundersen.

My son who has an EMT background had a fever, headache and ear pain for a couple of days. He also had been camping during the past week and found a tick on his body. The ear pain was getting worse and his headache and fever were not going away so he went to the ExpressCare Clinic in Onalaska. He was seen by Julie A. Smith, NP. She said that his ear was fine, but he had an upper respiratory infection. My son suggested getting tested for Lyme disease and she said no, it's too early for that. She told him to alternate between ibuprofen and Tylenol and drink fluids. $60 co-pay please. Fast forward two days. Two days. He was in total agony. No upper respiratory infection but awful ear pain and fever/headache still. Went to a different clinic. Dr. said he had a 'severe' ear infection in one ear and an infection starting in the other ear; gave him three prescriptions and ear drops. A few days later, my son ended up back at another clinic with Bell's Palsy on the side of the severe ear infection. To top that, the doctor did blood tests and Joe tested positive for Lyme disease. He is finally on the mend since seeing competent medical personnel. I would run the other way if you happen to go to Gundersen ExpressCare and are met by Julie A. Smith. She was wrong on all counts which is scary since she's dealing with people's health.

Will never set foot inside this Express Care again. And they don’t deserve the 1 star that I rated them...
After trying to log into the kiosk without success, I walked to the reception desk (which is what the kiosk instructs you to do) and was met with a massive eye roll from the receptionist. She then rudely asks “what do you need”. I explain that I needed to be seen and that I’m actually a Mayo patient to which she replies “what for”.
At that moment I was struggling with five-plus days of 102 fevers and higher and had been diagnosed days before with strep throat and an ear infection and things weren’t improving but only getting worse. I had explained this to her with tears in my eyes from pain and fear that something was wildly wrong. Her response was unbelievably disheartening and shocking - “well your meds aren’t done so you’re fine”. After bringing a mildly-nice PA into the conversation, the both of them agree that they don’t necessarily “feel” like they can help me and suggest I make an appointment with my regular doctor (which we all know can take months). I immediately tear up even more and thank them and walk out.
I would really like the two of these individuals to know that I was diagnosed the very next day with a horrible intestinal infection that, if had been caught a day earlier, (by them and I know they can do labs and send them off) I would potentially be in a healthier state today.
Had these two only let me speak with an actual medical professional, in a medical room, they maybe would have put the pieces together of what was really happening with my body. I truly can’t say how saddened and disappointed I am in Gundersen and their staff at this location. Because of this, I will never recommend nor set foot in one of their facilities ever again.
