Associated Bank

This is a retail bank. A bank that serves customers. I have banked with Associated for over 20 years including back when it was First Federal. Many of my friends and family have questioned why I continue to bank there over the years. They say it’s terrible customer service, but I’ve never really had a “terrible” experience. And I’m loyal. I believe in loyalty. I believe in relationships. So we moved to Eau Claire about 6 years ago and we’ve banked at the branches in town including Mall Drive and Clairemont/Featival and Grand Ave. and we never have an issue at these branches. And as a matter of fact I was just at the Grand Avenue location yesterday completing pretty much the exact same type of transaction. No problem! The young man behind the glass was absolutely amazing! Welcomed me , took care of my simple transaction and asked with just amazing energy if I needed anything else. That’s what taking care of the customer looks like. I was simply depositing a couple of Christmas checks that my son got from his sisters as I’ve done many times before literally for years and years. No cash back. Just a deposit. Today I had one check , for far less and I get to the window , prepare the deposit and Michelle is the teller. She proceeds to give me what I feel is the third degree about the check. She then starts to quote policy to me. At this point. I’m done. The check was signed and I signed it. Fully endorsed. And when I say I’ve been happy with Associated in the past the hard truth is that my wife has had the same exact kind of treatment from Michelle in the past. I’m done! I object to her rudeness and ask to speak to the branch manager. I then am given to Jennifer from behind the window. She gives me some half hearted apology and then defends this behavior saying it’s policy and there to protect me. Protect me? Is that right? $50 check going into an account with way way more in there to cover any issue. No. Unacceptable. This is not customer service. This is Michelle flogging Associated bank customers with policy and process and ignoring some pretty simple facts. Long term customer . Everything was signed, I was there with my ID. No money back. And she does this constantly. Michelle isn’t there to serve customers she’s there to bust balls and smile while she does it. And the fact that I got pretty much the same treatment from the assistant branch manager tells me all I need to know about the culture in that building. I have a call coming from the branch manager, Bill on Saturday and I look forward to hearing what he feels is good customer service to loyal long term customers. I pretty much have decided to look for another local bank. And that’s a shame. It’s a shame to all the other hard working staff members at associated who understand what taking care of customers with passion . And consideration can look like. This is a retail bank. A bank that serves customers. Customers have choices

My wife and I have been banking with Associated for years. They have been great to us even in tough times and have earned our business many times over.

This bank has you sift through their slips, I've never had any bank do that and they act like you have to call in advanced to do anything like are you going to give me my money or did I need to call a day early?
