I involuntarily received intensive child mental health treatment from CCS for an extended period of time when I was 15, following a hospitalization. I am now 21, and I'm able to look back on the experience and understand that it was traumatic.
The therapists that I saw would favor the opinions of my family at every turn. I had an alarm sensor put on my bedroom door that was provided by CCS, which would go off to alert my abusive family that I have left my bedroom. One of the therapists told me that her trauma was worse than mine, to my face, in front of my family. There were no repercussions for her actions since my family thought she was in the right, and the child's opinion doesn't matter within these sorts of organizations. I was constantly manipulated by the therapists into telling my family things that I didn't want to tell them, but they believed that they knew my family and my home life better than I ever could. They made my life much worse than it was when they came in.
After they exited my life, they had already done their damage. I was not any better. I was hospitalized again, and I ended up struggling with addiction and severe mental illness, and I still do to this day. Do not bring your vulnerable children here, even as a last resort, because they do not care for them. Your children will be treated like cash pigs and pin cushions in the hands of Catholic Community Services.
