I love this line of clothing and have been buying it for many years. I am familiar enough with their colors, fabrics and sizing that it will be a simple matter to order on line in the future. For many years, I looked forward to visiting the store and enjoying the in-shop experience with a fun and knowledgable staff. Today I tried, for the first time ever in bringing in an opportunity to resolve a point of dissatisfaction, to ask for help with one specific linen top that had worn unsatisfactorily. When I politely epressed that I thought the holes and wear were excessive for just one year when I had been careful to have it professionally cleaned, the correct response would have been "Unfortunately we no longer stock that particular garment, but let's work on a subsitute or solution that will make this right." What I got was "This was meant to be machine washed at home. You were wrong to take it to a professional laundry. This is an old, out of stock item. What is it you want me to do?" When I said that I was actually looking to the merchant to propose a solution, it was furthered with "We have a two week return policy. We can provide you with store credit, but it will be at a fraction of what you paid originally." This entire exchange could have been videotaped for training puposes around how NOT to handle a dissatisfied customer. And the appalling thing is I was dealing with the store manager! I finally asked her to give me back the garment and I will take it to my seamstress for repair. But the cosequence is that I will never set foot in that shop again. She thanked me.
