A telephone caller today identified himself as a DirectBuy sales rep and offered me free airline tickets and other prizes if I would answer a series of questions to determine my "eligibility". He was a very smooth talker and seemed somewhat business-like; however, after I told him I don't provide personal information over the phone he abruptly hung up on me. What a putz... Scanning the web I saw hundreds of negative comments about poor / abusive business practices by DirectBuy nation-wide. After reading these, I'm grateful for the unprofessional telephone salesmen DirectBuy employs as my negative encounter with this rude person has saved me from any future headaches that would come from dealing with this company. STAY AWAY!

Ok...here is the deal if you are considering. There are upfront fees to join and then an annual fee to renew. The annual fee is very reasonable. If you plan on needing to remodel a room, are buying a home, or already have a home which needs to be upgrading, updated, or just plain furnished....then this is the place for you. We have been members both here and the old Chantilly store for over 7 years. IF...you are only looking to buy an appliance or two and maybe a sofa then don't bother. Go get a Costco membership. This was well worth it for us because we have remodeled bathrooms, built decks, baby furniture, strollers, etc. We have more than recouped our initial cash outlay. When we were renovating our master bath we forgot to order a part for our shower. Our contractor said not to worry he would give us his discount and get it locally. We told him our cost and when he went to purchase the part his discount was less than ours!! A bathroom that would have cost us close to $40K to renovate only cost us $26K due to Directbuy. We have a 6 head shower, spa tub, heated floor, tumbled marble shower pan, deluxe cherry cabinetry, kholer sinks etc etc. We went all out and got a gorgeous bathroom for significantly less if we would have had to pay retail price. This membership allows you to buy upgraded products you normally would not be able to afford. Also, the team there is always very helpful. We can't say enough about TJ. It may sound too good to be true and i was certainly skeptical before we joined and used our membership but now i am so glad i made the choice to join.

I have been a DirectBuy member for more than 10 years. We have used our membership to save money on bedroom suites, upholstered furniture, outdoor furniture, and baby products. As they tell you up-front, you will not save as much on items with lower markup such as appliances, small items, etc. I have had issues with manufacturer delivery and the club and headquarters intervened and did their best to help me. DirectBuy can save you money...we made our initial membership back within the first 2 years. I shopped a number of furniture discounters and found DirectBuy would beat them everytime, even including fees and freight. But it is not for everyone. You need to determine your buying habits and needs and make an informed decision before joining.

This is the most dishonest, unethical company I have ever dealt with I can't believe the state attorney general hasn't shut them down yet
