Cape Charles Vacation Rentals

My family stayed at the Bayview Rd house this past week. It's a lovely location, million dollar house filled with low-end amenities in need of repair. Arrived to a filthy house (still waiting for cleaning fee reimbursement that was promised by Chuck over a week ago) so I spent the first 2 hours of my vacation cleaning the home. And, there were several pressing safety issues: open elecrical outlets, broken light over outdoor stairs, broken bedside lamps, dozens of lamps without working light bulbs. Plus, broken headboards, cigarette butts all over yard, no light in fridge, stove top burners did not all work. No working TVs. After repeated calls and emails to Chuck, he finally acknowledged our requests 3 days after our arrival. And, only because we had contacted VRBO requesting to move and a full refund. VRBO gave Chuck 12 hours to respond - he arrived unannounced 6 hours later. Communication is non-existent. Addressing issues is non-existent. We paid a $600+ "host fee" to VRBO (that goes straight to Chuck), but had to practically beg someone to come make basic repairs to the house and acknowledge requests. Unacceptable.

We received excellent customer service from Cape Charles vacation rentals. There was a bug with their online system, and they bent over backwards to accommodate us during our trip. Chuck worked with us personally and made sure we were taken care of. The property we rented was in the condos near Kiptopeke State Park. The condo was beautiful and had everything we needed. They had terrific instructions, and lots of extra touches like board/card games and cornhole boards.

We rented a vrbo rental through Cape Charles Vacation Rentals. It was the Huntington Farm, a few minutes outside of Cape Charles. It was amazing and pretty much as advertised. Chuck (and Kathy) were great to work with before our trip and also during. There was a water leak in the upstairs master bathroom shower, that dripped into the main downstairs hallway. Luckily, it was our 2nd to last day. Chuck came out within a couple hours and determined it wasn't a huge problem, but we didn't use that shower after that. Chuck seemed like a good guy and on top of things. As for the property, it was perfect for our family, which included a 100-lb lab and four elementary school-age kiddos. It is an OLD home, but that added to the charm. The graveyard in the backyard seemed a little off-putting at first, but kinda added to the legacy & historical feel. Loved the: foosball table; large, separate spaces to congregate; fun bunkbed bedroom for little kiddos; stocked kitchen; large family room; inviting covered porch; and water access.
