2023 UPDATE One year later, and the episodes of tinnitus that began after my awful experience during an appointment at this facility have only increased in the year since! It was in THEIR clinic, with THEIR technicians who refused to offer adequate ear protection during the long, long period of this MRI experience. I literally stopped the procedure and was told there was "nothing we can do." Were they too poorly trained? Too poorly resourced? Maybe they just didn't care? Was this just a one-off? Well, their "bad day" has had life-altering repercussions on this ex-patient, yours truly. I had to go to an ENT to get my ears checked in the days that followed; at my own expense and their leadership team doesn't bother to return phone calls. I will never forget how awful this day was. 2022 REVIEW It has been two months since my visit to Memorial MRI & Diagnostic, located at 1900 N Loop W, HTX 77018. Ive had multiple MRI exams in my life, but never anything like this. I was handed only tiny ear plugs for hearing protection. Over the next 45 minutes of imaging, the plugs were completely ineffective. I stopped the session multiple times due to the painful penetration of noise. Each time, the technicians insisted: Nothing we can do, sir. As a result, the ringing in my ears continued the rest of the day, the rest of the week, and now a full eight weeks later, I have sustained tinnitus. Again, I have been through multiple MRI experiences in my life and I have never experienced any problems with noise penetration. Why didn't I walk out? I **needed** the results right away. However, I stopped the scan and asked multiple times for improved safety measures, but ultimately I made the painful decision to stay, hoping and trusting I would not suffer permanent damage. I have now filed a complaint with insurance and relevant public agencies. p.s. There was a 2nd issue. During the final minutes of imaging, I had an allergic reaction to the injected contrast. The technicians didnt notice, they simply pulled me out after 5 minutes, disassembled the guides and head padding, and said: we couldnt get images, sir. Youre done now. I asked if they had noticed the violent spasms I was experiencing (uncontrollable sneezing inside the tube). Sorry, we couldnt see anything, sir. They only knew the imaging wasnt successful. Because the reactions had ceased, I asked to complete the imaging. We cant go back, weve disassembled the padding. Believe me, I will not be going back to this facility.
