We had a really tough time with Dr. Prakash. He was assigned as our admitting doctor for my Father-in-law due to a Kidney infection, we had 2 CT scans which showed that showed kidney stones but he didn't act on them. My FIL was in the hospital for Wed- Friday with only IV antibiotics treatment and he was in extreme pain (back). Finally his weekend doctor (who was great) caught the kidney stones and got an STAT procedure setup for him to try to get kidney stones out. Post the procedure he had instant relief on Saturday evening. Then on Monday, all doctors had cleared him for discharge, we just needed his admitting doctor (Dr. Prakash) to do rounds and signs the paperwork. He was feeling much better, but Dr. Prakash didn't show up to do rounds till 5:30PM (even the nurses tried to call him because he was so late). That night we didnt get home till 7pm. Dr. Prakash was impatient, not through- He had admitted that he saw the many Kidney stones but he didn't think they were the cause of his pain so he didn't act on it, he was not timely. Overall we had a great experience at North Austin medical center, but the only negative was Dr. Prakash. Thank goodness for his weekend doctor or my FIL would still be in pain right now.
