Budget Truck Rental

This place never has the right reservation. Every time we show up they offer us a truck twice the size and refuse to discount the rate for the inconvenience they cause.

Truly terrible experience. Use literally any other moving company, because it couldnt be worse than Budget. We dropped off at this location in Charleston. The locations hours online do not reflect the Sunday hours on the door at its store. (9-11 online, 10-2 at the store). The location is inside the mall but there is no signage or communication otherwise from Budget as to how drop off works and where one should go to do it. Though it has nothing to do with this location, because it reflects on the low quality of service provided by budget, it should be mentioned that the Budget location we picked up from in Georgia notified us five hours before we were to pick up that the truck we reserved was in fact not available and that our only option was a smaller truck. The truck was also in poor shape and felt unsafe, but that is something I will express in more detail in my review of the location we picked up from. Horrible experience. DO NOT use this company.

No problem until I returned the truck same day same location. 3 days later still no return of the remainder of deposit or email with receipt. Can't get a straight answer from them.

I booked a rental truck with this location before I saw the reviews and was a little nervous about the experience I might have but I had absolutely no issues getting my rental. The lady at the desk was nice and worked quickly. I can see why many people leave low ratings just for the fact the "reservation" is not actually guaranteed, but that is the fault of the company and it sets the service personnel up for failure. My main issue with this specific location is it difficult to find. It is located inside the Citadel Mall but there is no signage outside to tell you where to go, I just went in the closest entrance to where I saw a bunch of Budget trucks parked and found it that way. They could definitely make it easier to find. I was also concerned that there is no official review of the truck's condition once it is in your possession. Personnel did not review it with me and there is no online portal to post pictures of the condition you received it in, which is an unnecessary liability for the customer, they could blame damage you for damage you did not cause.
