Darling's Cafe and Famous Cheesecake

Just moved into the neighborhood, and I stopped in today to scout the place out and see if I had an easy sit-down-and-eat for breakfasts. Harry the owner was working the counter and he threw together a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and a cafe-au-laite for about 7 bucks. Is that a lot for a great breakfast. It didn't taste like Dunkin Donuts, it was ready in a couple of minutes, and Harry seems like a genuinely good guy whose business I feel happy supporting. So no, not really. Also, everything was really good. I don;t know how he made excellent eggs that fast, but he did, and I ate the bits that fell out of my bagel with my fingers, so there. He also made it a point to remember my name and ask me how everything was. I can tell by the way he treats his customers, his employees, and how he talks to people on the phone that this is great place with someone who really cares about a personal touch. TLDR; eat here if you like good food, independent cafes, friendly service, and a good cup of coffee (no Starbucks induced coffee-headache).

I really want this place to up it's game. Food is Ok, not great. Bagels are pretty big but often taste stale and panini's aren't great either. Croissant sandwiches are best thing I've had here so far. However, the most annoying aspect is the service...it just takes too long to get your food. I'll end this by saying that I've been here at least 10 times as I live across the street, so am pretty well qualified to comment.
