The best thing about Union Bank on NE Fremont is a parking lot. Otherwise go to another  local bank.   I recei an offer for a $300- sign up bonus to open a new checking account. The offer clearly stated you could just go into the branch. I walked over and when I arrived there were bankers and no customers. I showed them the offer and was told I needed to make an appointment. If the branch was busy, I would understand that. But apparently they just couldn't be bothered. They won't be getting my business.

I opened a business checking account Jan 2022. After two weeks of use, a payment from the checking to an external credit card bounced and fees were charged by the CC issuer. Funds were not a problem. The CC company informed me Union Bank didn't allow the transaction to happen. I asked Union Bank about this and found out they froze my account completely with no notice given. I had no ATM, no checks, no deposits, NO ACH, no transfers, no access. Two more frozen weeks went by where I only heard guesses or speculation as to what was going on. They said their back office wasn't telling them anything about it, Maybe it was some merger, maybe it was their dilapidated computer system. Eventually the branch manager told me the best I could do was close the account and go elsewhere. They were so happy to open the account but crashed and burnt our relationship in 2 weeks when this cluster happened. I got no help or support. I felt like burden to an easy day just trying to ask what's going on. This was probably a side effect of their poor procedures, no internal support or communication which results in... my experience. A Banking break down and nobody knows anything. Terrible, bad, Such a waste of time. You've been warned.

A Racist EncounterMy family owns a transportation business and have done their banking with Union bank for over 40 years. We recently acquired a few contracts in the Portland area. I was sent to Portland for business and went to union bank on Fremont to cash an expense check written by my family on a Union Bank check. I was asked for the usual: two forms of ID. Then I watched the drama unfold starting with the teller as she punched in enough numbers to write an intricate code. When that wasn't satisfactory she went and grab a supervisor who further scrutinize me and the check. After I watched for 20 mins, the back and forth from the computer, to the check, to me, and back again. " Oh, sir can you please sign again"  the teller says. She wanted to compare my signature with my previous one. In the end it was decided to,  "just call the company", the manager says. Never mind that the name of the company on the check is the same as my own. Finally, as a black man, I just could no longer hold my tongue and I asked, "would you have went through all this if I had been white?" The manager looks me in my face and says, "I thought you were white, and its the same for everyone, it doesn't matter if you were Japanese!" They know who they are and they know how they treated me. Afterwards, I was charged a $10 fee for cashing a Union Bank check at a Union Bank branch.

Trying to investigate elder abuse, my sibling milked my parent's Union bank account then closed it. Union Bank employees were happy to give me statements, however, the statements provided gave a transaction number, date and amount. No details as to what the transaction was, where the transaction took place, nothing! Not even whether the transaction was ATM, check, debit card! Useless!
I have since gotten other statements for bank accounts of other family members that have passed. They no longer provide ANY USEFUL INFORMATION AT ALL. Not a single transaction appeared on nine months of statements that were handed to me today. None.
Union Bank is a great bank to go to if you want to engage in crime, apparently, because they divulge zero useful information in statements.
I wonder if I can get the information I need from them through subpoenas.

I have banked with UBoC since 2002.  I have never had any issue with anyone at any branch in the two states I have used them. Always friendly service (which is surprising because no one is perfect yet) and no issues with their handling.  Recommend UBoC
