image The first cleaning we had was a dream, expensive but cleaning hadn’t been done in 5 years.
The maintenance program is a joke! They charge for services that are listed as being done, but I was there and with my own eyes and watched Tom, not do what I was charged for. He was there for 5 minutes and the entire time he was there he proceeded to let me know that his system must work because he’s been in business for over 20 years. That was in September. I kept missing them when I called, and didn’t get a chance to cancel. Another tech came out in November and did even less! I called to voice my concerns and was talked to horribly. I will pay the 2 bills I received from them, even though I did not receive the services. Yikes! Save yourself hundreds of dollars and find another pond company.

image I would like to share my experience with Naturescapes and Watergardens, an all-inclusive landscape company.
When I bought my house on Bull Mountain 17 years, there was a beautiful three level water feature in the backyard that basically sold the property to my family. The feature included two rock bubblers and birdie bath in the top level, the water then flowed over a water fall to the second level that had a palm tree planted in the middle. The water continued to meander down two sets of water falls emptying into a three-foot-deep pond where goldfish live a happy life. Did you know that 27 different species of birds will visit a free-flowing water feature in the PNW? I didn’t either, as well as Hummingbirds, Monarch butterflies, fluorescent colored dragon flies, lots of frogs and a few squirrels to boot! I can’t believe how much wildlife stops by on a daily basis, and for that reason, I leave the water feature running all year.
The previous homeowner left the name of the company, Naturescapes & Watergardens that created the water feature and master plan for the property over 25 years ago. The property highlighted contrasting colors of landscape using NW perennials, texture from grasses and shrubs, evergreen and flowering fruit trees, lace-leaf maples, stepping stones and paths, the sight and sound of water flowing, and of course, accent lighting in all the appropriate places. After 17 years the pond started leaking water. I called the owner, Tom Asch and made an appointment to come out and evaluate the water feature. The appointment was made within a few business days considering it was the middle of the summer, the busy season. Mr. Asch and his team did a systematic test to find out which level was leaking and developed a proposed solution. I was scheduled within a reasonable amount of time, the men arrived at my house when scheduled, were respectful of me, my property and loved my dog!! (extra bonus points for keeping the fence gates closed at all times!) My water feature is now as good as new and will be self-sustainable in a short amount of time. (meaning cleans itself, with the help of a filter and plants that are installed right into the pond) The fish are ecstatic!!
I was so pleased with the outcome of the water feature, I called and asked about low voltage lighting to accent the two bubblers on the top level of the water feature. I also wanted to install night lighting around the side of the house into the back yard. This stage was completed in a reasonable amount of time and expense. I noticed that some of the employees that installed lighting were the same ones as repairing the pond earlier in the year. I was told that all employees are cross-trained in all areas of expertise, such as ponds, pools & falls, irrigation repair and retrofit, backflow testing, accent lighting, hardscapes, (decks, arbors, stone patios, retaining walls) as well as all aspects of landscape maintenance.
The next project on the list was updating the light fixtures on the front of my home. It was scheduled (almost) before my HOA could approve the new fixtures! (Yikes!) My current project is having Mr. Asch draw up a new custom plan for my property to include a fire pit that wraps around the lower water feature, dispose of older landscape and update with new ideas. BTW Mr. Asch has been in the industry since 1974 and has a degree from Washington State (Go Cougars) in Landscape Architecture and second degree in Park Design. His foreman has been with Naturescapes & Watergardens for 25 years and is fluent in English and Spanish. The employees are well taken care of and therefore tend to stay with the company, which is a good thing.
Feel free to contact me if you want to see my water feature.

image Do not give this horrible business money. First and foremost they lie on their website about having people with degrees conducting your account, 98% of their crew can not even hold up a proper conversation. Both owners talk horribly about their employees directly to other employees and customers, fire without cause, overcharge with no honor system... Needless to say, both Tom and Mary are miserable people who will lie to cover their own butt at your cost.

image We had our backflow tested by Naturescapes & Watergardens and were disapointed with our experience. Durring the test the technician broke the handle on our system. After speaking with the technician he told us he would repair it the next time he was in the area as he did not have a handle in his truck. A couple of months passed and we had not seen the broken handle repaired nor did we recieve a bill. Over three months after the backflow test we finally recieved a bill with an additional finance charge. So we called and were surprised by the unprofessional response we recieved. Not only did they damage our system, they refused to fix it, and stated there was no way they had not billed us previously and would not remove the finance charge.
Needless to say I will not be using this company again and others should take caution before selecting them. The way we were treated and the unprofessional way this transaction was handled is unacceptable.
