Advanced Optometry Center is staffed by a shockingly unprofessional group of people. Specifically, the 'office manager' Tammy is hostile and unprofessional. She is utterly devoid of customer service skills and her phone presence is dreadful. I wonder if the doctors at the practice are aware of her behavior with patients? I cannot imagine why they would allow such a person to represent them. My advice to folks looking for an eye doctor: this office is TERRIBLE. Don't waste your time or your money here.

Paul (head optometry technician?) was a terrific combination of expertise and conscientiousness (the ideal combo for health care), and exceeded our expectations. Our son's sports glasses had to be sent out for special work because of curved prescription lenses. Paul would call us every few days to give us an update even when we were not expecting it. When we needed to pick it up after their office hours, he was resourceful and made it happen! He left it at the business next door who graciously gave it to us - it's obvious they're also good neighbors!

I was a patient with Advanced Optometry for several years. When I received a letter stating that it was time for my exam, I scheduled it. I was told when I came in that Dr. Garcia had bought the business. I was shocked that Dr. Garcia had not called to let me know of the change. This was his first day there. The exam went fine. He told me that I needed new glasses with a bifocal in it. I then went to choose my glasses. I was told by his staff that I could not choose smaller lenses due the the lenses that Dr. Garcia had prescribed. Several times, I tried to explain that I didn't like the larger frames due to my facial structured but they insisted on certain styles that I had to choose from. After choosing my frames (which were WAY overpriced) I was then told that due to the prescription I would need to add several different options to my lenses so that they would fit the frames better. When I went to check out, to my surprise my bill was over $900.00 and that was with insurance. It took two weeks for my glasses to come in. When I arrived, Dr. Garcia had gotten rid of all of the former employees and hired new employees. Paul is nice but the front office assistant is rude and thinks that she is doing you a favor by checking you in. I think her face would crack if she smiled. I then receive the pricey glasses and was given a cheap case for the glasses. I asked for the case for my glasses and was told that they would get this and let me know. (This took three times of me driving to the office and them not having it). I noticed on the lenses many laser markings and numbers and when I asked they told me this was normal and to give it two weeks to adjust to this and the new lenses. Needless to say, it took three times for them to get the lenses correct. Each visit I mentioned how uncomfortable the frames were and that they moved constantly which made the lenses unbearable to wear or see out of. Again, I was told to give it more time. Yes, the laser markings were decreased but not the issue with the frames. I asked if the frames could be switched for smaller ones to fit my face, and was told that they couldn't cut the lenses down. (Sounded far fetched because I knew of others who had this done) Dr. Garcia and Paul both told me that I could get the smaller lenses but would have to pay for NEW frames and NEW lenses. WHAT??!?! I just paid them over $900.00 and one month later, they are telling me that I need to pay them more money. I walked out of the office with $900.00 of worthless glasses that I can't use. I made an appointment with another optometrist. I showed them the glasses. They had me try them on and couldn't believe that I was sold glasses that were totally not correct for my face. They showed me several pair of smaller frames with smaller lenses (that AMAZINGLY would work with the lenses). They then offered to take the lens out of the $900.00 worthless glasses and recut them to fit the new frames. (Now I have glasses that fit well, wear well, and I can see out of). Yes, I did have to pay for new frames, but not the lenses. At this point, it was a matter of integrity that I would not give Dr. Garcia another dime for glasses. My entire family has been patients of this practice (five family members with glasses and contacts). We had always purchased our glasses, contacts and Maui Jim sunglasses from Advanced Optometry, but this was with Dr. Feiner. She would be shocked at how her practice is now being run. One of the things that shocked me the most with Dr. Garcia and Paul is that when I asked them about changing the frames, they stated, "that they would be the ones incurring more cost." Are you kidding me?!?! I was the one who forked out $900.00 to them and there staff got the lenses wrong not once but three times. There are so many good eye doctors in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area and I would run as quick as you can from this office! They are only after your money and not concerned with making things correct that they messed up.
