I had a touring here with Antonio, and he was the absolute best! So caring and so funny! Moving can be stressful and he really alleviates so much of that with his reassurance and effort. Cannot thank him enough!

Midwood Station is a hidden gem of an apartment. As prices skyrocket in the Charlotte area for apartments, this complex has affordable pricing along with a great location. Close to breweries, restaurants, bars, and Veterans Park. Amenities here are perfect size if you need a quick workout, dip in the pool, or get some focus time via the clubroom. Also, the front desk is always on top of their game and willing to help (especially Andrew and Antonio).

Service is great, Andrew has been exceptional one of the decisions for moving here. We did look at a few locations nearby. The main thing is the location, you can walk to everything from here but it's literally on the edge so it's not as noisy. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby within walking distance. All the amenities are on the ground floor, there's only one elevator however and there's no dog park. Occasionally someone's dog has peed all over the elevator as well. I would probably honestly pay $300 more for awesome amenities or pay $300 less for zero amenities. Giving it a 4 star for this reason, as I'm not sure the value is the best and rarely use the amenities, some places nearby have some crazy decked out amenities and are about the same price. And my insurance rates did go up moving here. Which seemed odd as I was in a high traffic area, but being here I've seen some accidents literally right in front of the apartment complex, sometimes once every month month. It is a busy intersection Central Ave afterall but I think there are some blind spots however when exiting the parking lot. They need to fix that. I would give it a 4/5 after moving in but a 3/5 closer to when my lease ended and moved out as there became increasingly more issues towards the end of the lease so I decided not to renew.

When I first moved in (2021), I enjoyed it. The complex was nice and clean. However, on my second lease term, I moved into a bigger unit and found myself displeased shortly after. For starters, I DO NOT recommend getting a streetside unit. The windows are very thin and you WILL hear every car/truck/motorcycle passing, music from cars, and anything else that goes on outside. There is also construction going on across that street that starts around 4 am every morning (sometimes even earlier). My sleep was so awful and disrupted that I moved out a month early. I also had an upstairs neighbor who had a habit of making the loudest bangs and stomps at 3 AM every morning during my last 3 months at Midwood (no exaggeration). They weren't your typical footsteps. It was loud enough to make anyone jolt up from their sleep in a panic. Even my guests would complain of the noise and question how I deal with it. I had to wear earplugs and at times even that didn't help. You almost HAVE to get a unit on the 4th floor to not deal with noise issues. Please read reviews on other sites. Many people complain of hearing upstairs neighbors throughout the day. This is on the apartment owners. Walls and floors should not be that thin. There is little to no soundproofing. When my most recent lease renewal came around, they were trying to increase my rent by $280 monthly. $1800/ month for two basic (and very small) amenities, no sleep, and rarely having a moment of silence in my unit...no thanks. You could quite literally get an apartment in uptown for this price with beautiful amenities. On google they say they have "Exceptional amenities"---a pool with enough room for about 4 people and a gym big enough to fit 2-3 people comfortably. When I was going to turn in my keys, I noticed how filthy the carpet in the hallway was. The elevator REEKED. Near the door of the main entrance there is also a foul odor of dog pee. The luxury feel it once had is no longer there. Pros: units are nice, Andrew was helpful, walking distance from HT and many restaurants/bars

I thought I would love living here given the postive reviews I have read in the past and the great location, but avoid this place at all costs if you can. When I first moved in to my unit, it smelled of cigarettes. Because we live in a big builidng, my husband and I assumed that someone nextdoor or nearby had smoked, so we thought nothing of it. We selected this property because I have severe asthma and specifically wanted a non-smoking complex with no carpeting. However, after coming home from work each night and continuing to smell cigarettes in the unit, I sent an email to Andrew letting him know that the smell was very strong and was triggering my asthma. I ended up in the urgent care downtairs from a severe asthma attack and needed a round of steroids to open up my airways. After telling Andrew this, he claimed that there was a neighbor that he was "pretty sure was responsible" for the cigarette smell, and he informed me that he would send out an email to the community to remind them of the no smoking policy. I never received any such emails. After continuing to inform the office of the smell, nothing happened. My husband and I literally mopped the walls, cabinets, floors, and ceiling fans. Tons of nicotine residue came off the rags and smelled terrible. I'm confident someone smoked in our unit previously. After informing the office, Andrew sent maintenance up to replace our air filter to see if that would help. Maintenance claims the air filter looked clean, so they didn't even replace it - just added a scent to the filter to try to mask the cigarettes. It smelled lightly of clean laundry plus cigarettes for a few days before the filter scent seemed to disappear. Fast foward a few weeks, and I have another severe asthma attack and end up back on steroids to help my airways. My doctor has me on nasal spay, allergy pills, and an inhaler to help me, but smoke is one of my biggest ashtma triggers. In addition to this, everyone who has visited our apartment comments on it smelling like cigarettes. My clothes have now picked up the smell. When I went on a family vacation in July, several family members said I smelled of cigarettes, which absolutely shocked me, considering how deadly they'd be to me. Turns out everything I packed from the unit soaked up the lovely smell. I now have two large (and expensive) air purifers running 24/7, cups of baking soda sitting out trying to absorb the smell, and clean every day. I reached out to the office to see if they could move us to another unit, but they refuse. I was told that I would have to pay $500 to move units and on top of that, I would have to reapply like I did for this unit. It's absolutely ridiculous. The manger, Cynthia Meeks, is so rude and condescening in the way she speaks to me. They refuse to come to the unit, so how would they know it doesn't smell? My husband works from home and sits in it all day, so we'd be happy for them to come by. I've practically begged someone from the offcie to just come up there, but they won't. To be paying $1,600+ per month and experience this just sucks. I have lived in other units in Charlotte that are way better and even cheaper. Bainbridge NoDa was amazing and I never had any issues. Aside from this huge issue, you'll just find so many other better spaces. There's constantly dog pee in the elevators here, maintenance takes more than a week for small issues (they're super nice, don't get me wrong) but this is a tiny complex. I've had issues fixed within 2 days at other massive complexes, so it's a bit shocking. Had we not had this issue with our unit, we'd probably consider this place again, but we will never rent here again. OH, and you can't sublease here. $3,000 to break your lease is the only option. That's what Cynthia told me when she refused to move us to another unit without the ridiculous fee. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS IF YOU HAVE ASTHMA/ALLERGIES THAT ARE WORSENED BY SMOKE. This places makes Bainbridge NoDa feel like a palace.

About
Midwood Station

Plaza Midwood doesnt pride itself on polish. No, you come here to thumb through vinyl and to drink a beer or three on a patio. You ponder tattoos over pizza and vintage furniture over cornhole. You dont mind getting your shoes dirty hightailing it from Central to Pecan. And you especially like the convenience of Charlotte's newest hotspots, like Resident Culture Brewery, being steps from your front door. And when you return home to Midwood Station, you appreciate the sheen of your quartz countertops, the gloss of the modern cabinets, and the gleam of stainless steel appliances. You like coming home to a small, boutique community offering big-time amenities. Its where you settle in, hunker down and plan for tomorrows adventure. Its the comforts of home + the cool of Plaza Midwood
