Raymond, Yes, In the town of Plattekill, you need a permit do work on a roof. Feel free to go to their website and leave a bad review. I understand your roof repair is urgent, so is every other roof leak in the Hudson Valley. Every week we fight the weather. This spring has been extremely wet. We get rained out about 3 days a week. Am I understanding this right? You are complaining about a free temporary repair? SMH, that means I am shaking my head in utter disbelieve. I find it personally insulting that you claim we are taking advantage of seniors. Cris came out and gave me an estimate. of $4,500. I asked for a ballpark time when the work could be done. He said I knew you were going to ask, and he said he would get back to me. Never did. I got a proposal from them and sign it. I explained the damage being done and he said he would send someone over to do a temp. fix. Never did. I called and he came over and did a very sloppy job. Again, asked for a ballpark time, no answer. The roof leaked the first bit of rain. At the time of the fix and out of the blue he said I needed a permit which was never stated in the proposal all this between the first and second week. I ask how much this is going to cost and he said $125.00. He then said since I never told you about this and for making you wait; I will eat the cost. More rain and leaking I got mad, and I called again and said I will get someone else. The first week I made a call a day and the secretary said she would have someone call, never did. Two days after I told them to forget it, I would get someone else I got a call saying I had to pay $200.00 for the permit. I told them first no one said anything about a permit to fix a hole in the roof. Second Cris say he would eat it. Third it went from $125.00 to $200.00 dollars. She said it was in my proposal and I said it wasn't, which it isn't. If the job was too small or they didn't have the time I should have been told this from the start. This is the Readers Digest version, but it all happened and is true. I have pictures of the temp. fix and I have the proposal. I was told that everyone know you need a permit, yea if you're in the business maybe. I thought you only needed a permit for major structure work. Just another case of taking advantage of seniors that took someone for their word and lead along. Raymond
