Never understood why this place gets such a bad reputation on review platforms. Lived there for 3 years and absolutely loved it. The staff make you, family and friends feel like you're at home right away. They're very attentive and honest to everyone's needs. Plus biggest recommendation is to take advantage of their dry cleaning deal with On Time Cleaners! As long as you drop it off at the store, they'll deliver it to the building. Makes life so much easier if you need consistent dry cleaning.

When you look at apartments, you should turn right away from Murray Hill Manor. I’ll caveat by saying that this building has very friendly doormen and an attentive super with very timely and efficient handymen. But this doesn’t solve the problem that management doesn’t care about tenant well being and fails to neglect that there are BUGS in certain apartments. We’ve had a terrible time dealing with management when we’ve found LIVE water bugs (large cockroaches) squirming through our hallways and our kitchen. This building deems itself a “luxury†building but management advises keeping sinks and bathroom clogs closed to prevent bugs from crawling up. I haven’t heard of a concept like this where in a luxury building you should be afraid to keep your sink and bathtub open.... We’ve been dealing with this this problem for three months (and ongoing) where we’ve seen large water bugs along with weekly occurrences of small cockroaches in our bathtub. Management treats this as a very small issue and will work fast to have handymen spray and seal areas but it hasn’t solved the issue to date when I see a large cockroach in my kitchen. I am legitimately uncomfortable when I come home from work and see that there is another roach in the tub. In fact, they’ve made the outrageous claim to even have us save the physical bugs dead or alive when we see them to use as proof and “help the exterminator with his job.†They claim these are isolated instances, but when I brought this issue up to a doorman, another tenant overheard and said they faced similar issues dealing with cockroaches in their kitchen. This is an old building and far from luxury (you should look at the indoor trash room as an example). and management will do nothing to make up for the fact that there are live bugs in apartments. Trying to work matters out with management has been exhausting and they’re incredibly cheap and greedy. They don’t care about your well-being or keeping tenants happy and this has been best exemplified by purposefully not picking up phone calls and repeating bogus answers over email for self gratification. This has been a horrible experience in part due to the bug issue and management’s lack of care and I can’t wait to move out... Please look the other way when you see Murray Hill Manor. It’s a sad excuse for a “luxury†building with some serious cockroach issues that management wants to hide from you.

Terrible experience (only 6 months into the lease). We find cockroaches WEEKLY, as well as water bugs. Considering how expensive rent is, it's unacceptable. Maintenance is friendly but do nothing more than a simple spray and seal. The solutions do not work. DO NOT LIVE HERE. **Response to Owner**: My assessment is based on my experience, and my experience has been frustrating, regardless of other units in the building. Maintenance is diligent to respond, but the protocol does not work as we continue to see roaches in the apartment. The property manager even went as far as to ask us to COLLECT the bugs to show the exterminator. This is ridiculous. The whole experience has been a headache. So, respectfully, I stand by my judgement and my assessment of the building.

We have been at MHM for almost a year now (and are about to renew our lease), deeming us pretty well qualified to share insights about what it's like to be a resident in this building. Not only is MHM one of the more affordable doorman buildings in the Murray Hill area, it is also a tremendous amount better than most. Here's why: - MANAGEMENT - friendly & efficient. The digital system used for work orders, key access, etc is super user-friendly and easy (I believe they use BuildingLink platform). There may have been prior management that wasn't great, and I obviously can't speak to that. But I can strongly vouch for current management. - DOORMEN - all the doormen are helpful and amicable. - SERVICEMEN - everywhere is kept really clean, and we are yet to submit a work order and not have it attended to within a matter of hours (often it's a matter of minutes!). Shoutouts to Kenny the Handyman, Cesar the Porter, and Mike, who does a bit of both. It's an old building. Things inevitably break. But when it's fixed lightning fast, it's just not a big deal. - AMENITIES - as of about 8 months ago, there is also a small gym on floor 2. It's modern and clean. However, I admittedly don't use it often as it is very cardio-machine heavy, and has very limited weights. I think it could be fitted with a better balance of gear, but for those who like treadmills, spin bikes, ellipticals etc, then it serves the purpose well. Laundry is in the basement - isn't anything special, but has enough machines (we don't often have to wait), and gets the job done. Elevators are pretty efficient. - ROOFTOP - technically, an amenity, but this deserves its own bullet point, as we really enjoy the rooftop here! It's pretty easy to access and there are a decent number of sunbeds, chairs, tables etc. - PET-FRIENDLY - building is really easy to have pets in, and staff are very friendly to them. - LOCATION - very convenient to commute to/from. Few minutes walk from the 6, M34/M34A buses run extremely regularly. Less than 2 blocks from Trader Joe's (this is invaluable). Plenty of really great food and bar options in the area. It's also convenient for those working at the hospitals nearby (my wife is a doctor at NYU Langone) - APARTMENTS - our kitchen was renovated in recent years and with its modern, stainless-steel appliances, it's a pleasure to cook (and clean) in. Most apartments have popcorn ceilings, old wooden parquet floors etc, but with a bit of love and a trip or two to Ikea, we've given our apartment a modern but homely feel that we are very happy in. We are clearly pretty happy here. In terms of the overall experience and value for money, you just won't beat MHM!
