Midtown Tap and Tea Room

Came in for lunch the other day and was welcomed by the cook with the rudest "Can I help you?" I have ever heard. It was no surprise that he was out from behind the kitchen because the place was empty at a time that should have been the "lunch rush". I didn't stay for lunch, in fact it will be the last time I go in. I frequented the establishment about three times a month for the past year. Its with in walking distance from my home. The sandwiches receive a passing grade. As far as the dinner entrees, they have been 50/50 at best. Without the rude staff the place would still receive "its just okay"

I see most of these reviews are old. I visited the Tea and Tap for the first time a few days ago. My experience with the Front of House server Johnathan was excellent; he was friendly, attentive, competent, and timely. Not only was my meal excellent, with a great local draft beer selection, but we made a friend in Johnathan and in doing so found a new favorite spot. I can't speak for other staff, but everyone I saw at the Tea and Tap treated everyone as a paying customer, with respect.

I look forward to going back. Checked this place out on random wed. night. Service was a little slow but the front of the restaurant was booked out for some big group. Back room was quiet and inviting. Ordered the hanger steak and it was some of the best tasting beef I've had in a while. This place serves things tapas style so the plates were small compared to going to some run-of-the-mill place. But they're perfect if you're not trying to gorge yourself and take home leftovers. Two small plates and an appetizer or salad are plenty big enough for a meal for two average people, with enough room to spare for desert and not feel sick about it. ...if I come to find I only like the hanger steak and the goat cheese salad, I'd still be happy to go back just for that.
