image I absolutely do not recommend. We hired Castillos Builders to replace a roof and move the air conditioner. Isidro assured us that he would start on time and that we would be the only job he was working on. He gave an estimate for just under $20,000 after inspecting the work to be done. He then arrived over two weeks late. He continually had a surprise he encountered that cost me more money to the point that I paid $30,000 for a new roof. Absolutely insane. An estimate means you tell me how much it will cost and stick to what you said. It doesnt mean, Oh, did you know this is broken? I need more materials. Hey, this is leaking. So unprofessional. I should have just fired him then and there when he raised the price the first time. Its just hard to do when your roof is torn off.
Isidro was hardly ever at my house; clearly, he had other jobs he was working on. The guys he left at my house didnt speak any English so there was no communication. They left a mess all over the inside of my house (when changing skylights) as well as the outside including beer bottle lids, their food trash, and plastic bottles of urine.
Isidro advised me to move my AC to the roof which he then had his guys do. He called his AC professional AFTER doing this. When the AC professional showed up, he was completely confused as to why we moved the AC to the roof when the ducting in the house is designed for a side AC. He had also been instructed by Isidro to salvage the old motor from my 30 year old AC. Thankfully, he told me this, and I was able to call Isidro and demand new parts. Youre charging me $30,000 and are too cheap to buy a new motor?? Its now the first summer with the new AC, and I am sitting in an 82 degree house while its 92 degrees outside. My new AC is far less efficient than it ever was before, and my house is sweltering.
During the roofing process, the office assistant Sandra lost a $10,000 check from me. Pretty sure as an office assistant, not losing your clients money is a pretty basic requirement. I then had to write a new check and pay to have my bank put a stop on the old one.
When the new skylights were installed, the boards on my roof were visible from the inside. I had to show this to Isidro. He had men come fix this. They slapped some filler on the holes, completely missed half of them, and then left. My husband and I then climbed into the skylights to smooth out their job and make it look halfway decent.
The man he hired to paint my porch completely missed a huge section. Isidro never came to inspect anyones work. Like I said, this guy was never here.
He sent his workers to patch a piece of my stucco that they forgot to patch while doing the roof, and they showed up on a Saturday night in the dark. They then repaired the stucco in the dark. Needless to say, it looks horrible.
Basically, this guy is a liar and a waste of money. He is not professional. His workers were totally unprofessional, but I blame him for that. He wasnt here with them. He didnt provide them with any means to go to the bathroom while working on my roof all day, so where else were they going to pee but in plastic bottles. He sent them to work on my stuff at the end of their day when they were probably already exhausted. With the exception of the AC guy, he hired very disappointing contractors, and he charged me a RIDICULOUS sum to do it all. My neighbor used a different roofer who replaced her roof and redid all of her stucco for a fraction of what I paid for my shoddy job. And guess what? He had a porta potty with him, so his workers could urinate respectfully. I do NOT recommend!!
