My husband and I have been looking at some Lennar homes. We fell in love with Lynn model at Westcott and had our eyes set on a lot. I was told we needed to be preapproved with their in house lender, even though we've been approved with an outside lender. We have money to sign the purchase agreement ASAP. Unfortunately the Lennar mortgage department and the Sales office don't communicate well with each other. We didn't receive preapproval letter until this afternoon when we had found out the lot was purchased already. The preapproval before we even received it was sent to Laurie Brown one of the new home consultant on Wednesday 4/21/2021. We submitted preapproval information on 4/19/2021 around noon. She claims she didn't have my husband's contact information, although receiving his preapproval via email from Kristina in the mortgage department and could have easily requested for his contact info. I've also been in touch with Laurie throughout the shopping process and told her my husband was getting his preapproval completed. Never once asked for his name. I did eventually give his name at 10am today (4/23/21). By noon I was told the lot was sold after Laurie had a conference call with the sales manager and director. The price of the home had gone up $6000 over the last two days. We could have easily sign the purchase agreement on Wednesday afternoon if this company had proper staffing and communication within. We are terribly upset as first time home buyers to experience such disappointment and dissatisfaction. Most upsetting is they don't have any other lots we like and my husband took a credit hit for no reason along with our wasted time. Laurie had provided other excuses such as managing the whole southwest valley, well the company should really hire extra staffing especially during these times when demand is at an all time high. Also how the actual buyer of our lot had a similar name as me and thought it was me (I've been in constant contact with her all morning asking about how to sign the agreement while waiting on Lennar mortgage). I even spoke with her via text the evening before inquiring on the lot. My husband was registered on their interest list and our agent registered him as well. Not only was our agent not contacted they made no effort to contact my husband. I would have never known if I hadn't pushed to do a purchase agreement without the in house pre approval. Kristina told my husband "should be no problem, and she'll send info over to Laurie" but gave no instructions for the next steps, no clarification if he's been officially approved, if we could put the reservation deposit or sign agreement for purchase. We asked for a copy of the credit report and was told it cannot be done due to "compliance reasons", but will receive a condensed version in the mail. This company claim they are making it easy for first time homebuyers. Truth is they are not first time homebuyer friendly at all. I've been new home buying with my family multiple times and have never heard of a preapproval taking 7 days for the buyer to be notified. Another complaint all the internet sales and sales like Laurie don't have the most accurate information. I've received several different info regarding premiums between their internet sales team.
