im not one for posting nasty reviews but the biggest problem with this place is that you just cannot reach anyone. they dont have a working phone number listed, they dont check any emails, and dont look at notes in the resident portal. the posted office hours are usually incorrect and if you do go down there, youre usually told that a manager isnt in and theres nothing they can do. ive spent weeks at a time trying to reach anyone who can give answers about a unit and it just never happens. common spaces are cleaned once a week and are usually disgusting until monday or tuesday AM (see photo) and if youre someone thats worried abt security dont even think abt it. the mechanism in the elevator that requires a key to go above the second floor has never been turned on, and the east towers front door has been unlocked for almost 3 months. the front door was also shattered and replaced with plywood, which im sure will be here till i move out. i love my bedroom itself and i like that i can print in the study room but thats abt it.

This has been - by far - the worst living experience Ive ever had. The buildings have gone months without necessary safety repairs, including security doors being left completely unlocked, a private garage with a broken gate that allows anyone in and out (there have been multiple vehicle break-ins and robberies), and elevators that frequently break (the stairwell elevator in the West building has been broken for over a year). In addition, marketed amenities like the pool and gym are often unavailable or completely trashed. Earlier this year, the internet (which is included in the rent cost) completely went out for weeks without any peep from management about fixes or rent reduction. When the problem was fixed, management sent an email saying each tenant was responsible for contacting Spectrum to remedy the issue in their specific unit rather than doing so themselves. Getting consistent hot water, AC in the summer, and heat in the winter is impossible, and management hardly bats an eye when these issues are expressed by hundreds of their tenants. As well, I moved into a unit with noticeable damage to the walls that management promised would be fixed within a week of my move-in; my lease is up in a month and these repairs still have not been completed. Stay far, far away from this place!!!

I stayed here with another roommate from 2020-22. It was a mixed bag for me: Condition: (I did appreciate the special deals we got for signing up/renewing early) I generally liked the unit we were in. Of course, it didn't match exactly like the pictures online or on tour, but I enjoyed the quality of the rooms which could look ugly or bleak or in a state of disrepair in other apartments. I was disappointed that I was randomly given a room which was probably a little less than half the size of my roommate's--it made furniture rearrangement very limited. My biggest worry was pests, which thankfully were never an ongoing issue: very few spiders or house centipedes; we did have a lone mouse which was annoying until we were given traps to place and caught it in a few days. Amenities: I really enjoyed that we had most of our amenities covered. Machine washing services were o.k., since multiple washers/dryers would be out of service for some time. Nice that there's gym. Elevators seem to be an ongoing issue that made using them a minor inconvenience at times. At one point (or two) we had cold water in the middle of a whole management issue. My biggest complaint was our AC unit, which later on kept having issues like noise but also just straight up not keeping the apartment cool with warmer weather AND having the apartment not produce enough heat with cold weather outside--we even had a temporary window unit put in for most of the last summer. Management: This is where I saw the need to weigh in for 2 stars. From the start communication was never strong, as my roommate didn't have any furniture placed in his room when we began moving in. I did not like that management had seemed to be behind a wall of front desk people, who whenever we had complaints did not have good answers at times or never passed them along to the people who needed to fix them. Apparently management changes (people leaving) happened after our first year which just was very annoying and inconvenient for many people, including us (when we had the cold water). It was never easy to get straight-forward answers, and the degree of this frustration varied between the different managers and workers we'd encountered. So at times maintenance was prompt at checking out complaints, but more often we would have to wait days until someone came by to fix or replace something (I give them credit for the hard work they constantly had to do for the whole place) Overall, I would recommend if you are looking for better prices for a generally good-quality apartment in the city, but just be aware of the poor communications and/or mismanagement you may get and the frustration that will come out of that. And this was only my experience, and what I saw as the highlights to mention, so weigh it with the others.
