Students! Open your account with a bank that has a better system, instead of making profits from your fees. If you are already a member, be aware of fees. They are not kind or smart enough to warn you whether it's intentional or not. I was a member of tcf for almost a decade. Recently, I got a notification from them that they will charge some fee from my account. Before I visit the branch, I had talked with call center and confirmed the fee will be charged from next month. However, the branch denied and charged it. Moreover, they blamed me that I should receive notifications from prior months to avoid this. I checked my inbox and statements again, but they never did until I got the letter three days ago. They initially said the fee is not refundable no matter what, but they eventually admitted it's their mistake and offered reimbursement. However, they turned back again after they realize I’m not their customer anymore since I closed my account already. The lesson here is do not close your account until everything is done. Sadly, this is not the first time they charged a fee providing incorrect information while I have this account. Well, I just decided to treat this as a donation for my worst amateur disappearing bank from the college. I believe they will not be changed even after change their brand.

I hate to leave a poor review on the branch because my experience mostly is about the bank itself but here we are. As for this branch, everything is fine. Everyone greets you when you enter and they always help me out. As for the bank, TCF is one of the worst banks I've ever been a part of. I use my account every single day! Mainly for my work and because it's convenient since I live right by the branch. Every now and then my account get's over drafted not by a lot but it does. I usually immediately make a deposit to cover it. Last night, July 21st, I was charged $148 (37*4) for $40.73 of transactions. The transaction OD'd my account $27. So my account was overdrawn $175 and 70% of that is from TCF. The phone representative just kept repeating the same line about overdraft fees are charged for each transaction. Which is severely unethical. She informed me that the transactions posted the day before at 3:00 in the afternoon. Which is bull because I checked my account at night before I turned in, and the account was in the green. There's never a warning or grace period. It's extremely unethical to charge fees per transaction. Especially, once it's paid back. The only other bank I can remember banking with that's worse than this place is Huntington. Thankfully I have accounts at other places and I'll settle for inconvenience rather than a bank that do stuff like this.
