Inept or poorly trained member (dis)service agents and soulless clinicians who simply push paperwork and have forgotten they are dealing with real human beings. Deplorable reimbursement rates which force all the better providers to either leave the plan or limit the number of patients they see who are insured through the plan. Outdated provider directories which make it impossible to find a contracted doctor or therapist. And yes, they do use fake names when dealing with customers over the phone.

Do not trust Cigna under any circumstances!! They are a bunch of corporate crooks who sustain their business model by keeping your insurance premiums and refusing to cover the care which you need and which you have paid into all your life. Cigna refused to cover the cost of a bone marrow transplant a few months ago which I was desperately in need of. All my doctors said it was medically necessary. Even one of the higher-ups: a medical director at the hospital proved it was medically necessary. Cigna didn’t want to hear it. They denied the claim over and over again. Now as a result, I have staggering medical bills to the tune of almost two hundred thousand dollars (U.S.A. dollars), even though Cigna should have covered my transplant. It’s written right into my policy that “medically necessary bone marrow transplants are considered medically necessary.” I guess the medical opinions of at least 8 different doctors and medical directors (who are NOT on Cigna’s payroll, mind you….) don’t matter or count nearly as much as the people working for Cigna who are responsible for denying valid medically necessary claims simply in order to save the company money. Don’t ever trust these fraudsters with your medical care….. or your life, for that matter. If you do currently have them, switch right away!! And if you are in the market for either individual or group health coverage for yourself or your family, steer clear of Cigna. They are just bad news all around. Trust me, they 100% WILL try to pull the same sleazy, unethical, and dishonest shenanigans with you as a future customer, which they’ve already successfully pulled with me as a previous customer. This is honestly the worst insurance on the entire planet, I wouldn’t even insure a stray dog with Cigna!!
