As the Flashes of Hope Boston Chapter Director, I have had the pleasure of volunteering with Mike for over 6 years. The mission of Flashes of Hope is to provide free, uplifting, professional portraits of children fighting cancer. This can sometimes be a very challenging task, and Mike has risen to the occasion each and every time! He has a quiet and patient way about him that makes even the most camera-shy child feel comfortable and confident. Mikes also humorous and lighthearted, which can ease the self-consciousness felt by some of the teenage patients. Mike is one of the most professional, reliable, and compassionate photographers that I have had the pleasure of working with. I highly recommend Mike for any type of assignment.

We worked with Ritterbin on multiple projects, including two videos for our nonprofit work with former offenders and clean energy causes. Mike was thorough, professional, and worked with a variety of residents and staff to build some incredible products for our work, which we continue to use to promote and introduce supporters, volunteers and donors to our initiatives and projects. I would highly recommend Mike for his work and dedication. He spent a lot of time and early hours finding the best light, aerial shot, interview subject and context for promoting our work.

I have hired photographers for more than 40 years to do head shots. It may seem like a straight on and easy assignment. The real art is capturing the personality of the subject. I don't know how he does it, but Mike is a genius at portraying the real person, each time. I would never use anyone else for these important photos.

Mike Ritter is an extraordinary photographer! His portraits are not only vivid and beautiful, they sing with life! He truly captures the personalities of his subjects. We recently collaborated with Mike on a creative approach to school portraits with Lee Academy Pilot School in Boston. Kids worked with our team at Step Into Art to create a decorative mural inspired by contemporary artist Kehinde Wiley. Mike then staged school portraits in front of this mural and encouraged kids to strike spirited poses and express themselves with joy and pride. The results were amazing! Mike himself was a joy to work with every step of the way. We are already looking forward to our next project together! Abby Rischin, Founder and President, Step Into Art, Inc.
