Save your hard earned money and go to other steak places in town. This USED to be the place to go as I live only about 6 miles from it. Took out of state friends (4 of us). Called in advance to make reservations and message said only needed for parties 6 and more. So we went and told 40 minute wait. No problem. We sat at the bar and me and gf got our drinks right away. The husbands waited and finally had to ask for beers. An hour later, we were seated. Several other tables were seated and water glasses filled. We waited. FInally had to ask for water and response was "oh, no one has waited on you yet? I guess I will have to take your table" Wow, sorry we are an inconvenience. Still no apologies for the wait to GET a table either. Food was okay but steak was very small and for the price of the meal, we have been better off at the Butcher Block. The whole ordeal was over 4 hours. Yeah, I should have said something but everyone seemed stressed and confused most of the night. NOTE: This was during covid and only HALF of the tables were full so it was NOT that busy. Unless they change management again, we will get our steaks and shrimp in Cedar rapids from now on.

Love this place, but we arrived at 5:15 on Sat 9/5 and you were closed with no explanation on door or website. Why no notice about closure? Drove out there only to be disappointed.

I have never posted a review and typically enjoy most places we go or I often can find the silver lining but this was not a good experience for us. We had been told good things about this restaurant And had recently moved to the area. Yesterday was my birthday so my husband and I gave it a try! We were excited to try it as we dove by quite a few times and always said we should try it sometime. When we got there the menu seemed small but often times and small menus means there is great quality in the food. My husband ordered Fillet Mignon with a baked potato and I ordered the shrimp with a baked potato and then a bottle of wine. The first wine we ordered they were out of, no big deal we ordered a different one and the waitress let us know that it was half off for bottles of wine that night... awesome.
The relish tray came out and the onion rings were fantastic, but the rest was a little bland, the radishes were cut inconsistently, one was sliced with just the top and bottom, which is normal the other was cut as if you were cutting of mold or bad spots all over. The cottage cheese was a bit strange to have on the relish tray I believed they were aiming for a cottage cheese dip but it didnt seem to have much flavor. The salad was ok, the dressing was very delicious. The total wait time for our main course once ordered was about 20 min, we had a good server who came to the table to check in on us.
When our food came out my husband was outside, the steak and shrimp were brought to the table and then the waitress said Im sorry but we are out of baked potatoes, (why was it not mentioned until the dishes came out) she asked if we would like wedges, or hash browns instead... I let her know I would take wedges and would ask my husband as soon and he came back.. she left and about 2 minutes later walked back and asked if I had decided, I let he know he was still outside and she said ok I can let the guys in the back know... it seemed like she was being pressured or rushed, I get that it was 840ish and they probably wanted to clean up but I felt like if that was the case they should have come out earlier and let us know that they ran out of baked potatoes.
The food itself was mediocre at best, the steak was burned on the outside and had very little of any seasoning, the shrimp was not terrible but I felt they were either to small or there were too few for the price point. The potato dishes came out about 10 minutes after the food, the wedges were not bad. The bill came out a short time later, we definitely felt there was a rush for us to head out. Then on the bill our bottle of wine was originally 19.00 and the half off price was 11.00? We finished our bottle of wine and well doing so we could here staff complaining about scheduling while also using profanity on at least 3 occasions that I caught, loudly, seemed a bit unprofessional to me. By this time we were so frustrated and just decided it was best to leave without any confrontation. We will not be returning.
