Popoli Restaurant

Very good restaurant, and good service. I really like it since the reopening, quality Italian food.

When we arrived, there was an issue with our reservation, after they finally found our reservation we were sat in a room that I could only described as a dirty Applebees. The tables were not set, and menus were not provided. I will say the rest of the restaurant had a great vibe, but we were treated like second rate dinners, being shoved in a dirty room off to the side. While there was plenty of open tables in the main area. The couple that followed behind us was sat in the same area and also seemed very confused about the seating and made a few off hand comments. We decided to leave and find a place more welcoming for our 6 year anniversary

We dropped in to get out of the wind and rain early, for a glass of wine and appetizer. Chose the fried artichoke and mushrooms, very tasty. Had so much fun chatting with bartender Cierra we stayed for dinner, steak salad, yum! Lovely architecturally significant building (old bank designed by Louis Sullivan), very friendly staff and owner, and free chilled shrimp during Happy Hour on Fridays.

I usually tip 50% on special occasions it was my anniversary the waitress was barely attentive didn't even give us her name so me and my fiancee kept giving her changes and changes to earn a 50 % tip on a $100+ check but she never made it she didn't give us any ideas even though it was our first time kept have to ask for straws n folks she wasn't at all engaged with us but the one waitress was doing amazing wish she was our waitress she was recommending things to her guests on top of being social able all at the sametime . First time having duck it was amazing and what made it special is the chef came out and checked on us because I have an allergy to onions and wanted to make sure I was ok and that's was the highlight of the night as far as our waitress we still tip her 15% just because she waited on us. I'm a area General Manager for a restaurant here in town and I spend weeks in weeks out trying to give out the best customer service I can for this community just to go out myself and get bad service would had 5 stars but service wasn't there for us still coming back just a different server.

Wife and I went there last night. Service was excellent but I asked for Shrimp Diavola mild and it was way to hot I thought I could stir it and it would get better but no. Waitress said she would take it back but my wifes food was already there I didnt want to wait to get more food. Chef told her that most customers decide they want it hotter but Im not most customers. I felt like he should of fixed it the way I said. For hotness between 1-10 it was a 8, stomach pains rest of night. My fault for not sending it back.
