Charter Fitness of Valparaiso

New management is working hard to make it a go. I love this gym. The people are friendly with a mix of VU students and retirees. Women can feel safe here. The men's lockerroom could use work and air freshener. I would give it a Covid defense rating of 5/10. Need more treadmills and less elipticals. Good weight machines. I do hear some grunting but it's harmless.

Great workout facility. Nice machines and free weights. Ample equipment. I rarely wait to use a piece of equipment. Honestly, I don't recall the last time I had to wait. 24/7 access. Friendly staff. Under new MGMT. And unexpected improvements are happening now. Friendly clientele, too.

Under new ownership, but same old attitude. If you don't have 4% or less body fat and put out like a nun who's just given up celibacy, this may not be the best place for you. It's nice that some of the machines run, and the smell of prison yard showers adds to the ambience. If you're over 40, go somewhere where you have a chance of being recognized as an actualy human being.
