chris k. on Yelp

image waited 2hrs before he could see me and spent about 5 to 8 minutes talking to me about laser option and acne issuesexplained how lasers never work for people and didn't even bother to look at my back and chest acne but he ended up giving me antibiotics. the prescription i ended up throwing it away the only reason why i went to this dermatologist because he was rated 2010 best. this is sooo wrong!!!! do not go to this dermatologist he is very old and is not up to date and love to hear himself talk. his biggest problem is not listening to the patient and there needs ----go elsewhere!!!!!

image Every so often I move to a different city and have to depend on things like yelp or citysearch to find a doctor (because of all by congenital diseases! KIDDING, not funny, huh?) ...What IS funny is the way I came to have Dr. Izumi be my new dermatologist. I actually tried to make an appt. with another highly desired and praised dermatologist but his reception was absurdly rude and curt and she told me, "here's the number to another doctor!". Heretofore I became another name in Dr. Izumi's appt. book. I then looked on yelp! and found that the 1 review of Dr. Izumi was positive and google didn't find any malpractice suits against him. *wiping sweat off my brow*Dr. Izumi is a no-frills, no-nonsense kind of dermatologist (in comparison to my derm. in St. Louis who told me, "men look better with acne scars." Consequently making me the best looking man ... pfffft!) I'm drafting this review as I wait for my 3rd appt. with Dr. Izumi. He looks at you, asks what's up, then sends you on your way with a Rx. Simple, straight-forward, and easy breezy Japanese-zy! He isn't the worst, he isn't the best, but so far he's been reliable and informative. His fair, youthful and smooth face isn't too bad of an indicator that this probably 70 year old dermatologist knows what he's doing.  Let's just hope my "residual reservoirs" of acne can clear up under his care. I'm going to give it another visit or two and maybe his receptionist can lead me to my next dermatologist sometime soon. The appointments are this:You walk into his drab and simple (think Public Health) office, and immediately to your right is the receptionist who never smiles and asks, "Name?" as you walk in.  Then you take a seat in a wooden chair (think Unitarian Church Sunday School).  After 15 minutes the nurse/med asst calls your "Name?" and seats you in a typically small room - there are pictures of gargoyle and Ivy League campus looking buildings -- and you wait.  Dr. Izumi comes in, asks why you're there, then he'll remember he scheduled the follow-up appt. himself and then he'll rehash all the reasons he gave you the medicine he prescribed.  Lastly, he'll give his medical advice and then ask, "so what do you need?"  Then you leave and tell the receptionist the date Dr. Izumi told you to come back. He's in the Queen's Physicians' Office Building 1 (POB I) on the 4th floor, room 412.  There's validated parking for $2.  I've never used it, but the pharmacy is right there on the 3rd floor of the same building, so there's some semblance of convenience.Nothing out of the norm, but definitely nothing spectacular.  Solid 3 Stars.
