SCAM!! Listened to a 90 minute presentation for free airline tickets.. They want me to pay $300.00 up front for my “free” airline tickets. Crazy!!!! BEWARE!!!

Unbelievable. A rep called me and said they are Southwest Airlines and want to give me 2 tickets if I attend their new office opening in Palm Harbor. Totally scripted sales pitch, but I thought, ok, let's see what they say. I doubted SW would want to open an office here but who knows. I said, sure, why not. They told me the time I can come. Then told me their manager wants to talk to me. Girl named April got on the line, dropped a couple cheesy jokes, then gave me the address and time. Address was of Global Vacation Network's office. New? Well, it's showing on Google Maps, I assume not so new. I said, wait, you said you are Southwest, right? She said, well, you can get 2 free tickets for any airline you want, you just need to be at our presentation for 90 minutes. I figured that's where it was going, I've received similar letters in the mail before. I said, so your sales person was lying? She said, no, the person you talked to was Southwest Airlines representative. I did not believe that. I said again, you are now telling me something different than what you said in the beginning, that is lying. She then hung up on me. Travel agencies must be hurting to employ these kind of tactics.

"Free" travel gifts aren't even at a discount I was invited to attend a presentation for a new travel agent in town in exchange for some free travel vouchers. I sat through their slimy sales pitch which wasn't even about a travel agent anyway, but travel software. They wouldn't let me look at the software so that I could compare prices with other similar programs. I declined to buy and the sales manager got very mad that I wanted to leave with my gifts. Nevertheless, I was able to finally go. You have to go through so many steps trying to redeem these "gifts" and they are so confusing, even for a young professional! My "free" hotel trip was going to end up costing me more than if I booked through Expedia. I never could get them to deliver on the free airfare. I called to talked to them about the hotel, but they refused to acknowledge the pricing was bad, and continued trying to convince me it was a deal. I have certainly learned my lesson the hard way when it comes to these sales pitches. This is my third time around the block. I'm done with this stuff altogether.
