Beautiful house. If you want to spend thousands of dollars to rent a beautiful house and spend thousands of dollars on food and water during that time with crabby female landlord this is the place for you! There is nothing to do on the island that you can’t do in one day. You will need to spend hundreds of dollars to rent a boat for 6 or less to go on an excursion. You will need to get used to standing at the water nozzle for non-sulfur water to drink and cook with. (Or buy water bottles like we did since we drink a lot of water). Showers are also sulfur water. Hot tub is like bathtub temp—so NOT a hot tub. Internet is best in one spot so everyone gets to be quiet during conference calls etc. Multiple problems with golf carts. The land lady is beyond rude and you can tell she really does not want to be a landlord. Here is just one response to a question if we needed to bring additional toilet paper. Innocent question with and over the top aggressive response! “We provide 2 rolls of toilet paper PER bathroom. I hope you don't use two rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom for 7 days with 8 people (that would be 12 rolls of toilet paper - 5100 sheets!!!). There are 425 sheets per roll divided by 7 days = 61 sheets per day per bathroom for just one roll. We are on a septic and it will clog up and overflow for sure. I was there in December for a month and used one roll in the master bath.” Strongly encourage you to take your family, or group, to an island that has something to do, places to get amenities, and ample water supply. Spend your thousands on a vacation you will enjoy throughly. Not this one. Worst rental we have ever rented. Worst island we have ever been to. Lesson learned.

Bluefin, located on North Captiva Island, is a touch of paradise and offers an escape from the hustle and bustle. The island is a touch of heaven - peaceful, relaxing, safe, and friendly. Bluefin offers all of the amenities of home plus sleeping for 12 and a responsive owner and property manager. What truly makes Bluefin special, though, is the beautiful ocean view, the deck to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset, a pool/hot tub that provide hours of entertainment, and a location that sits just steps from the beach. Bluefin provides two golf carts that allow you to explore the island to hike or search for shells. Also included is a membership to the Island Club that offers a community swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, and kayaks to explore the bay and nearby waters where you will most likely see dolphins and manatees. We have visited Bluefin with our extended family on 3 different occasions, and we have created memories that will last a lifetime. We can't wait to visit again!

This post is from my Mom, Sue - - We have spent our spring break at Blue Fin three times in the last few years because it is the perfect house for traveling with my kids and grandkids. From the ocean views and sunsets, to the wildlife, to the laid back pace of the island, we had a wonderful experience. This is a perfect place for a family to relax, enjoy each other, and island living. The kids loved the pool and hot tub, looking for shells on the beach, kayaking to find sea creatures including fish, dolphins and manatees, and being on the lookout for tortoises. The golf carts were a great way to explore the island, or make our way up to the Island Club where we enjoyed the community pool and the basketball & tennis courts. Our only suggestion – pack light and bring your food with you! The house has everything you need! It is spacious, well stocked, and in a great location just a hundred yards from the beach. The caregiver and owner were responsive to any questions or needs we had. We can’t wait to return to this island paradise for a third trip. Thank you for the memories!!

My family has rented Bluefin Beach House several times over the last couple of years. It has become our favorite place to stay on the island. It is very hard to find all the following amenities in one property on North Captiva: - three equal master suites, all with own bathroom - pool AND hot tub (actually gets hot!) - kitchenette on same level as pool - extra bathroom on same level as pool - great bunk room and area for kids with kid bathroom - modern and up to date furnishings and decor - big kitchen - great views There are a lot of great things about this property. Owner is very responsive too, if you have any questions. Finally, if you haven't been to North Captiva before, you have to give it a shot. Truly a unique vacation destination. Feels very tropical, and the closest feel to the Virgin Islands I've found in Florida so far.
