Strongly do NOT recommend Steel City Solar. Whole home install May 2023 in western Pueblo County. Sales pitch was "our system will eliminate your electric bill". This of course is the only rational economic reason a homeowner would agree to the project - no electric bill offsets the installation loan payments, once loan is paid off you have free electricity for the remainder of the panel's lifespan. But that isn't happening in our case. The system isn't meeting our usage (which was actually less this year than the 12 month period our system was supposedly sized for). NOW WE ARE PAYING AN ELECTRIC BILL AND AN INSTALLATION LOAN. Instead of trying to make it right, their response is "this is what you agreed to". Yes, I agreed... based on your representations the system would work as intended. Minor complaints: 1) let out our livestock escape the property during the install. 2) Left screws and construction debris on the ground. 3) Inverter failed one month after installation. Why does this matter... Company claims they monitor your system remotely. But I was the one to bring it to their attention after a month of zero power generation.

I didn't use them for my solar panel installation. My review is an observation of an employee who zipped into a Wal-mart handicapped parking space, no tag on the truck or in the window, clearly a healthy guy bounds out of the truck, and shops for about 10 minutes, the same amount of time I was there. We leave at the same time and I see his coat was adorned with this huge stars and bars patch. The values of this company should be questioned. I used a great company out of CS and could never see them sporting the same value system as Steel City Solar.

Their marketing campaign on social media has pushed me to promote and use other other non-affiliated solar companies. Their marketing director took an intro to marketing and all they got out of it was "repetition, repetition, repetition " what they did not learn is that negative association by means of repetition create and harbor negative feelings towards their company. Congratulations Steel City Solar, I know your name... now I know who not to promote! You should market to your audiences. I'm not a "Solar pro" stop marking your sales info to me. Most people are not, nore ever will be in solar sales...we have some form of dignity. If you have any dignity reformat your marketing approach. Turns out I'm good at Solar sales.... not rocket science. I promoted the sales of three solar units here in utah. All three did not go with yours. I did not say anything bad... or anything at all about your company, I promoted different companies who did not annoy me. Good luck on your endeavors.

I feel compelled to share my experience and express my deep concerns regarding Steel City Solar based on the accounts of appalling behavior and actions of their current employees that I have heard from current employees. After hearing firsthand accounts of their unprofessional conduct, I would strongly advise against engaging their services. The reports I have received paint a disturbing picture of a company plagued by destructive work practices, including drinking on the job, arriving intoxicated or high, and even acts of property destruction. One of the most shocking incidents relayed to me involved an employee using a customer's front lawn as a restroom. This blatant disregard for basic decency and respect is deeply troubling and raises serious doubts about the company's commitment to professionalism. Additionally, I was witness to employees bad-mouthing the owner, which further undermines the integrity and reputation of Steel City Solar as a whole. If these are the actions and attitudes exhibited by Steel City Solar's own employees, it is incomprehensible to imagine allowing them near one's property. The trust and confidence required for any business relationship are shattered when employees engage in such reprehensible behavior. It is evident that this company lacks the necessary protocols, supervision, and values to ensure a safe and responsible working environment. Considering the seriousness of these statements, which were provided to me by current & past employees, it is incumbent upon Steel City Solar to conduct a thorough investigation into these matters. Customers should be able to trust that the company they hire will employ individuals who conduct themselves professionally and responsibly. Based on the disturbing reports I have received regarding the behavior of Steel City Solar's employees, I strongly caution against engaging their services. The lack of professionalism, destructive work practices, and disrespectful actions are indicative of a company that fails to prioritize the well-being of its customers and the reputation of its brand. It is essential to seek out a more reputable and trustworthy solar provider that upholds the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. Please note: These accounts are based on the information shared with me. I encourage others to conduct their own research and due diligence before making any decisions regarding Steel City Solar. I however will not be hiring them for any type of work. To reply to Steel City's response to my review. No, I have never worked for this company. No, I am not & would never put my money or my business in the hands of Steel City Solar. I've lived with 2 of their current employees (which I will not name because that would put both their jobs at risks) for over 2 years & I've spoken firsthand with several ex employees as well, I make honest reviews. I will not be intimidated by a low-level solar company that hires druggies & drunks to work on their customers' homes. I said what I said. It's up to the customer to do their research and make an informed decision about who they choose to get services from. Just because a company doesn't like a review that's written about them doesn't make the review wrong. Their need to cover up bad reviews concerns me even more. Instead of trying to fix the problem from the inside, they try to undermine my review. Maybe Steel City should look inward to their employees & ask why they feel the need to speak so harshly about the company they work for. I made an honest & fair review on Steel City based on my knowledge of what employees (past & present) have said. Their response to my review just further shows how low class & unprofessional the company is. Maybe be a better company, hire better employees. Don't bully people online to change their review just because you don't like what it says. Sometimes, the truth hurts.

Business Response on Google Dec 9th, 2023
You are not a customer nor an employee. You have no first hand knowledge of Steel City Solar nor its installation practices. Steel City Solar is extremely professional and has the highest integrity standards I have ever seen in any industry including the solar industry. You have no experience with Steel City Solar so your concerns are baseless and unfounded. Please add to your review which current employee you heard these rumors from. It is concerning that employees are speaking poorly of Steel City Solar. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will look into it.
