Shopped at the original Mason St. store 5 years ago to buy my first BC setup. Bummed when they left, happy when they came back, but prices seemed too high. Hadn't gone back in years, but checked them out this holiday season -- and I was very impressed, especially compared to reviews from earlier this year. Found a reasonable selection of gear I was interested in, at a good price -- with the holiday sales, they're competitive with anyone. The staff (multiple people on multiple days) was knowledgeable and helpful, didn't try to push me into things outside of what would work best for me and my goals. As noted below, I would hope that they read these reviews and do a better job of return policies/price adjustments comparable to industry standards, but other than that, give them a shot. I was pleasantly surprised and expect to be back for more gear.

Shop locally - go to Jax. Despite poor feedback, I thought I'd give them a try because of their good selection of gear. Bought a $600 pair of telemark boots which, as it turns out, were going on sale 20% off in two days. Brought the unused boots back to see if they'd price match, which is a pretty standard practice these days. To my surprise, the answer was 'no' and heard varying spiels of 'sales don't work that way, blah blah blah.' Since I was within my 30-day return policy, hadn't worn the boots (or, thankfully, had them heat-formed), I therefore returned the boots, which they grudgingly processed. Curiously, they were then willing to sell the same boots back to me at the sale price. In other words, they did a price match, but made sure to make me feel like a jerk while doing it. They had great customer service fitting the boots, they've got a great selection of gear at reasonable prices, and I'm sure they're cool guys if you meet them out in the mountains, but business and salesmanship isn't their strong suit. There's plenty of places in Fort Collins who'll give you a square deal without the snotty attitude - I'll shop elsewhere from now on.
