7-Eleven

This place is where your stuff ends up when your car gets broken into in Baker. As I finished my transaction tonight, a homeless man bumped past me to get to the register, placed a very large, very expensive Bluetooth speaker on the counter, and caught the attention of the cashier. Sale? he said, with the intention to sell this presumably stolen speaker to the staff at the 7-Eleven. I assumed that the cashier would tell him that there was no soliciting in their location. I was wrong. Youll have to talk to Jesse about that, the cashier said. The two then proceeded to banter a bit about Jesses schedule as I walked out. The man trying to sell the speaker seemed to know who Jesse was, and that their schedule was sporadic enough to be considered unreliable. Seems like this 7-Eleven is running an under-the-counter pawn shop with local transients providing stolen goods, and as a Baker resident, it became clear to me what may have happened to the items stolen from my car after multiple break-ins last year. I have a clear vested interest in reducing auto theft in this neighborhood, so Ill be preaching the gospel of a boycott of this 7-Eleven until it has shut down for good.
