Our job was small and we’ve had trouble getting someone out just to give us an estimate, so all Joe had to do was show up and he had the competition beat! But he did so much more than just show up... he was on time, tidy, professional and very pleasant. His rate was fair, so we decided to have him do the work. We are very pleased and we will recommend Joe to our friends and neighbors.

Best Electric bids by the job, not by the hour, and then completes the job that day if you accept the quote. We were quoted $420 labor to replace a couple of existing light fixtures with new pendant fixtures. (We supplied the new fixtures.)
I assumed that when we accepted the bid that this was going to be a two to three hour job, although that seemed high. My gut proved to be correct, as it only took an hour to an hour and a half to complete.
In retrospect, I should have waited for a second bid from another company which charges by the hour (in their case, $100/hr.) But I didn't, so that's on me. To be fair, Joe is personable and I think he knows his stuff. And, if you have a busy schedule and can't afford to be off work for two separate days for two separate bids, then it makes sense to just pay the money and get the work done.
If you have a more complex job, I'd certainly invite Best Electric to make a bid. But for simple, straightforward jobs, there are less expensive contractors out there.
