Very ethical! Right away after examining me determined I was a candidate for Medical insurance to cover my surgery. With his help I didn't have to pay one penny for my surgery. I am very grateful! Also, he is very personable and made me feel comfortable!

This review is to share my experience trying to book an appointment with Dr. Hyuma Leland for a basic hand issue. My general doctor referred me on 12/29 due to my carpel tunnel flaring up after having a baby. My hands have been severely numb and weak which is causing significant issues holding and feeding my newborn. I had the same issue when my first was born and it was cured by a quick cortisone injection in my wrist.Week 1- Referral made + spoke with reception who said my insurance won't cover and they can't schedule until its approved. I offer to pay out of pocket. They said Debbie, the coordinator will call me. Week 2- Debbie calls + my insurance approves treatment. Debbie says the referral is not listed as "urgent" + they can't schedule me until its "triaged" internally which takes 8-10 business days, then someone will call me.Week 3- I call reception to follow up. Debbie calls me back, same thing "8-10 days". It's been 9 biz days, so ask if I can expect a call this week. She says tomorrow is 10 days + I ask her to change the priority of my issue, she can't.Week 4- I call reception to follow up. The guy is nice and offers to schedule me because I've been waiting so long. After our call, I see he scheduled me with a throat doctor...so I call back to check. That was a mistake, so he schedules me with a different doctor. I check again and still its still not the hand doctor, so I call again, Debbie answers and says he wasn't supposed to schedule me and she is cancelling my appointment, since its not been "triaged" yet and it take "8-10 days". I tell her its been well over 14 biz days and she says they are short staffed and someone will call me. Week 5- Still no call back, it's been 18 business days and I've decided to drive to San Francisco to see a different doctor, who's office did not make me jump through hoops to get an appointment.For Debbie: I'm sorry your office is short staffed. I suggest you either 1) Stop  accepting "new patients" or 2) Give people a more realistic timeline, so they can decide if their issue can wait. From a patient perspective, I don't feel heard or supported with my issue and that is disappointing.

Was helped by Donna and Dr Hetzler today, seen 5 min after checking in, The doctor asked thorough questions and did many tests to ensure there was not an undiagnosed problem. They were both very thorough and respectful and the process was a breeze I highly recommend this doctor.

I highly recommend Dr Leland!!! I visited his office on recommendations of several other physicians who highly recommended him for his skill and ethics. I scheduled an evaluation and he was forthright and made suggestions and I immediately knew he was the right doctor to do my surgery.  He and his team were so personable and went out of they're way to answer all of my questions and concerns. He is very approachable, kind, knowledgeable and a wonderful surgeon who is very skilled. My results were phenomenal and I couldn't be more happy. I would definitely recommend Dr Leland to anyone!!
