We've been coming here for special occasions for over 20 years. They never disappoint. Exotic and delicious dishes and decor. Superb service! A true classic in the heart of San Francisco!

Coming to Le Colonial, you'll need to travel a bit towards a back alley (look for the glowing neon sign). I was expecting one of the taller buildings on the street, but in actuality, the restaurant was further tucked away inside. Once coming in, there is a gorgeous greenhouse-like outdoor area as well as a classy interior. We were greeted by our server, who was amazing. He not only was quick to point out great dishes but also was super fun and charming. For instance, I was super curious about their house old fashioned, and he gave me fair warning that it would be unique (due to the buttery syrup they used). Sure enough, he was right but I absolutely loved it. And then he recommended me the Mai Monte Tai - a huge mai tai that was served in an oyster mug. Delicious, not overly sweet, and refreshing. Loved it. Food-wise, (their menu is seasonal so apologies if this changes!), we went for the crab flat noodles, the pork belly, and the bo luc lac. They were all delicious, but would definitely rank the crab flat noodles as our favorite (great size portion and super delicious noodles / crab). The pork belly was terrific too - loved the presentation of the rice noodles that came underneath and the sauce. And the bo luc lac was just solid (loved the slight little changes to making it unique).

The food, ambiance and flavors were unparalleled. Talk about an unexplored slice of the city. I lived around the corner for 5 years and finally stumbled upon this oasis of deliciousness, spending the next 3 years going regularly. Do yourself a favor and experience this spot (on the patio preferably!) pro tip: dice games used to be amazing here but I doubt theyre still going on.
