I've banked at Union Bank for over 10 years.  The staff are at best just uninformed; at worst they're clueless obstructionists.  The worst aspect of the Santa Cruz branch happened two years ago: they installed a "prison system" alarmed/lockable door portal, in which YOU are a prisoner as you both enter and exit, as they choose.  Hell, this is the worst most fiendishly customer-unfriendly branch I know of.

I agree fully with the other review. Terrible experience with these folks.  Charges for statements, charges for balance verifications, charges charges and more charges. At least when you borrow from cousin Vinnie he'll tell you about the vig. Terrible service, slow response on every request. But that's ok if you have 2 days for an answer when you want to use your money. I don't know how they stay in business. They don't have mine any more.

If you want a bank that operates in the 19th Century, this is the bank for you.  Particularly avoid Justin.  He is a flat out jerk.  It appears his job is to drive away customers.To put it mildly, Union Bank sucks.  They will hold your money hostage.They use a 3rd party to handle transfers to other financial institutions.  They tied up our proceeds from refi for almost 2 months.  This was a check from a Title Company.  Of course, Union Bank pocketed the interest.Criminal. I've reported them to the Office of the Comptroller.They are a perfect example of why most people hate banks.
