image Went to Union Bank to re-invest a time deposit and check on 1099's. Arrived at 10:30 this morning. They were busy so the nice Assistant Manager, Julie suggested that we come back at 2:30 for an appointment with Dee. We arrived at 2:22 for the 2:30 appointment. There was not one customer in the bank. I approached the first teller(that was seated) and told her that we had a 2:30 appointment with Dee. She said, " She's in the bathroom and should be right out." At 2:40 (after 18 minutes), I approached the same teller this time she said," Oh, she must have gone to lunch late." She asked the other teller if Dee had left late. At 2:53, Dee walked in. As she walked by, she asked if we could move over to her cubicle. As we sat down, I said, "We had a 2:30 appointment. " her response was, " Oh, we were so busy earlier, I had to go to lunch late." (I really don't think that is my problem.) She asked if I could write down a beneficiary for the time deposit. I asked if there was a copy of the td for the beneficiary. Her response was that it will be on the signature card held at the bank so all the beneficiary would have to do is come into the bank and state that we passed away and he could claim the funds. I asked for a copy of the signature card again. She said that I could have a copy. We finally concluded that transaction. I asked about the missing 1099. She said since it matured just a few days ago we would get a 1099 for this next year. So I asked, "Then what about the 1099 that we should have received for the one that matured last year? She went to ask her boss. She came back and said that her boss was with a customer and we would need to come back. I said," I had asked the assistant manager about it this morning. She said, "Then she is back, you can go ask her." We did ask Julie and she will take care of it. I told her that Dee was 23 minutes late for our appointment. Julie apololigized.

image I am an avid retail user of banks, particularly though not exclusively Union Banks of California. I frequently have cause to stop into a branch to conduct a wire transfer or make an in person deposit or perhaps for a cashiers check. I often marvel at the sheer amount of real estate occupied by banks in Southern California because it's like... banks are always more than half empty. I can't even remember seeing something like business being conducted at a bank.
This is just a huge, empty bank... two stories tall, what are they doing on the second floor? What did they ever do there?

image This review is for Dee Pham, one of the bankers in this branch. We had a very bad and unprofessional experience with this un experienced who has zero knowledge about business accounts. Be alerted giving your personal information to this person.

image What can I say? All major banks, such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase have a poor customer service. However, Union Bank (by the way this bank is owned by the Japanese) has by far the worst record of Security and, of course Customer Service. My debit card gets shutdown every 2 weeks, and every 2 weeks I have the contact their Poor Customer service - I have been doing this dance for the past 2 years. Today, it took over 1 hour to get this issue taken care.
(1) I called their Poor Customer, waited for about 7 minutes to get someone on the line, (2) after he took my information, and while he was trying to connect me with their Poor Fraud Department Service, I was on hold for almost 20 minutes, finally the rep tells me that their Poor Fraud Department Service was not answering (what a suprise). (3) He gave me a direct number to contact them directly. (4) I called, and once again on hold for about 11 minutes, the person who answer the phone took my information and asked me if he could put on hold while he was trying to connect with the their Poor Fraud Department Service, so I told that I was given this number and told was the Poor Fraud Department Service, and he told me that was not. (5) On hold again for about 13 minutes, he puts me through. (6) Once again, give them my information, and once again, the rep told me that will put on hold while he contacts the Poor Fraud Department Service. And once I ask her if she was the Fraud Department, she told no, she was Poor Customer No Service, and again, on hold for over 10 minutes.
For the past 30 years I have been with Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase and now Union Bank. All of them have a Poor Customer No Service, but, Union Bank has the worse.
Lesson Learn. I'm closing my account with Union Bank, and move my money to a small local/regional bank. I did some research for the past year, and these banks have a more personal service with their customers and also (becuase they are small) they have a efficient customer service.
They have the same, if not better, security as all the other banks. They actually offer better rates, and No Fees to use other banks ATM's.
About 3 years ago I Stop using big chain restaurants, coffee shops, and other services. Instead, I eat a small "Mom and Pops" restaurants/Coffee shops.
I will do the same with banking. Sayonar Union Bank; life is to short to important to waste my time with your Poor Banking System.

image This is the worst union bank ever.  They took more than 15mins in the drive up window and still not able to finish my deposit when all i have was a check to deposit. Don't know what was going on there.
