First of all, thumbs up for Aaron at the reception for providing a smooth and friendly check-in process. Very service oriented person who makes you feel welcome immediately ! On the positive side, comfortable beds, nice modern vibe, good room to put your luggage and good quality towels and bed sheets. The TV has lots of channels, is large and of good image quality. That said, I am disappointed in the Hotel. First of all, the pricing. They charged me 180 USD for 1 night and 15 USD for the parking. This is an over priced hotel and I will tell why. At first glance the room seems nice and clean, but when I walked around in the room, I noticed that my feet were dirty and I felt some stuff here and there when putting my feet under the desk. The desk has no proper chair so working for a few hours was not that good for my back. The room is very spacious, but they could have made the bathroom a bit bigger. No breakfast is offered. The hotel is at a quiet spot on a side street, but unfortunately you hear a lot of noise from other guests and then we were here, there were diggers and other stuff making a lot of racket outside (not the hotels fault). ONLY 3 STARS because CLEANLINESS is a key priority and a basic for any hotel. Rooms: Spacious, modern vibe, but needs better cleaning Safety: Feels like a safe area Walkability: Closer to the sea Food & drinks: Unfortunately no breakfast offered at the hotel

Very nice motel. The rooms are very spaceous. Nice and soft towels. Quite expensive parking ($ 15 per night at this moment). Bad sound isolation from the neighbours. The beds are very good. Unfortunately we had some pubic hairs from the previous visitors in the bath, but we didn't use the bath. The staff was super friendly. The wifi was th worst. Working was not an option. No decent chair was fors een for doing some work are the desk. Rooms: Large rooms.

I'm so happy we chose The Shoal to stay in San Diego for 4 days! My first time in So Cal for my birthday. The employees were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and the bed I had was so comfortable! I hope to see changes in the future for the items below. - Please consider swapping out the sliding bar door to the restroom. It's too close to the beds. - They make us pay for parking and bike rentals. I wish those were free access. other than that I loved that we were a good walking distance to the ocean. It defiantly felt close to paradise!
