Gary is the relationship manager at this branch. He is very knowledgeable about what the bank has to offer. Also a very nice and friendly person.
I had to use the counter service for a couple of times. The staff was friendly and efficient.
The branch is small but very clean. I love doing business with them.

My Dad passed way, and I tried to take his money out. The branch manager either doesn’t want to help or doesn’t know how to handle this situation. She asked me to get a court order. But I told her that, in California, if the amount is less than $150k, it’s not necessary to go to the court. But she said HSBC is an international bank, it has its own rules. However, two months later, I tried the Milpitas branch, they took care of me in less than an hour.

If I can give them zero stars I would.
When I call into Citi Bank (their 1800 number) they make it a point to thank me for banking with them for a specific number of years (30 something). When I go into my local Chase bank they recognize me and greed me by name. So when HSBC give me an invitation (promotion) to open account with them, I expect at least the same amount of respect and service as a new customer as say McDonald's (I think McD is great but they deal with fast food not your life savings so their service should be accordingly).
So when I went into the mission branch to open and account about 2:30 on wed (I figure it would not be so busy). There was not customers there at all that I can see, no one in line, no one in the offices.
After standing there for about two minute someone finally came out. I told them I want to open an account and I have an invitation. They ask if I have an appointment, I said no. The person offer to make an appointment for me. I was thinking are you kidding me. It is 2:30 you close at 5pm. It is one thing if they offer to put me on a waiting for that day and promise to get me ASAP but let me know it could be a while since there are customers who have appointments.
So I politely said no and walked out. ARE YOU KIDDING ME SO DO I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET MY MONEY OUT, TOO!
Don't go here. Do you bank anywhere but here. This is on top of another bad experience I have with another branch. In the case there I believe they did discriminated against me because of my national origin and/or race but that is another review at another branch.
