The Inn at Newport Ranch is an astonishing ode to the remarkable landscape of Northern California. Wind your way up the Pacific Coast Highway and through woodland roads studded with vineyards and enchanted ocean views to come upon this redwood masterpiece of an inn, perched on private bluffs with uninterrupted views of sea lions, dramatic sea stacks, and even whales (if youre lucky). The thoughtful accommodations are the perfect combination of luxurious elegance and profound reverence towards nature. Lodging is spotless and incredibly cozythe plush bedding is perfect for a rest after exploring the 2,000+ acres of this property. This intimate setting makes it feel like you have the whole place to yourself (at one point we did!) and the lovely folks of the Inn are truly conspiring to create the most memorable stay (thank you, Ruth!). Food and drinks are an homage to the landscape and utilize the on-site flora and fauna while Fireside services not only offer spa treatments but individualized holistic wellness practices based on your needs. I spent the majority of this trip in happy tears with the absolute highlight being our four-hour UTV foraging tour with Otis and Felicia, who warmly welcomed us as friends, lovingly steward this property, and share their incredible knowledge of local history and plant wisdom. I have to keep some of the adventures along this excursion a secret because you must experience it for yourself! My fianc is a fun guy but doesnt love fungi and even he was blown away. Be prepared to nibble and sip on wild things along this journey, to both give and receive from the land, and explore several microclimates replete with distinct ecological marvels. Bring your trekking shoes, light layers, and your sense of wonder! Rooms: The Hearthstone suite has amazingly soft and clean bedding, a private hot tub, and wood stove. Nearby activities: Amazing state parks all around though the property itself is 2,000+ acres for your perusal. I recommend making the trek to an old growth redwood grove. Safety: The inn is quite secluded and remote. Food & drinks: Local wines, hand-crafted cocktails from the gardens provisions, and inspired nourishing meals reflecting the land and sea. Noteworthy details: Unparalleled experiential adventures including but not limited to a foraging tour with the opportunity to savor your bounty prepared by the chef!
