I came here after hearing good things from some friends and seeing the buzz online and I came with some huge expectations... all of them were met. This place is great, its inside a hotel but that would be the only downside. Everything else about this place is amazing, every item on the menu I tried was tasty (my favorite being the goat cheese jalapeño bites) and they had an amazing selection of wines. I was pleasantly surprised by this place and will definitely come back if I am in the area. P.S if you dont like goat cheese go for the truffle mac and cheese you wont be disappointed.

I dined here a couple months ago and had a lovely time. I started off with the Endive Salad that came with granny smith apples, blue cheese, candied walnuts and a light balsamic dressing. It was so light and delicious! I loved the tartness from the apples. For main I had the braised short rib. This was also good but not the best I've had. The chocolate molten cake for dessert was a perfect ending. Rich and chocolatey. It's perfect to share this. I also tried the Jackson cocktail made with a JD whiskey and iced tea. I didn't like it so I switched to a Malbec. It was a good move. The malbec was delicious and had a nice dark chocolate aroma. The ambiance and decor is lovely. Perfect for a date night or catch up with some friends. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. They do bottomless mimosa & bloody marys on the weekends! Parking: Valet at the hotel and be sure to get validation!

The food is fairly good but the service was not. There was little or no communication between the hostess, the bartender and the waiter. This past Saturday night I was in town from Seattle. My friend and I planned to have dinner, then go to the South Coast Rep for a play. I wanted to sit outside and was willing to wait. I was seated outside but made to move. I was given a glass of champagne on the house for my trouble, and when my friend arrived, she was given one too. I told the hostess that we were in a bit of hurry because of the 7:45 show start. Nothing happened until I asked about our table. I think they forgot about me. We were seated outside but no one brought a menu or even acknowledged our existence until I flagged down a waiter. We asked for two more glasses of champagne and ordered our dinner. The champagne arrived but it was not the champagne we had the first time. Quiet frankly it was undrinkable. I could not get the waiter's attention again so I took the glasses of champagne up to the bartender myself. He did replace it with the original, better quality, champagne. Dinner was tasty, but my friend was disappointed because she had been there before, for lunch, and remembered it being so much better. We paid our check and dashed to the theatre as this all took much longer than it should have. Just before the play began, I realized that our restaurant tab was more than I anticipated. I pulled out my receipt and sure enough we were charged for the "gratis" glass and the second one. If I were the restaurant management, I would have comped both glasses given the hassle. We did go back after the play. I told the bartender of the charge. He no longer seemed to care about our experience and grudgingly gave us a glass without charge. I even wondered if he had every intention for charging me for the champagne in the first place. Perhaps he thought I wouldn't notice it on the bill. Too bad. It is a decent restaurant with lovely atmosphere right next door to the theatre. My husband and I are going to another play at the Rep next week, but we will choose another restaurant.
