Dr. Raghu C. Murthy is a great doctor. My 6 year old had a mole in the eye and we visited him to have it checked and he rightly diagnosed it and he referred us to a pediatric ophthalmologist (Dr. Fung) at UCLA. Even though this was a simple procedure for Dr. Murthy to take up (as he deals with much complex surgeries of retina) but he found it appropriate to send us to someone who does the mole surgeries on a regular basis. I further went ahead and got the surgery done from Dr Fung at UCLA per recommendations from Dr. Murthy. He is the kind of doctor who would think about what is right for the patient.

I had an eye infection and he diagnosed it immediately and thanks to Dr. Murthy he medicated it properly and its gone! Also, he read my charts and diagnosis that another doctor gave me saying I had macular degeneration and said I was mis-diagnosed and do not have it, in fact he retested me to be certain. In my mind he is a genius!

Not a good guy. Does not like to be questioned or challenged in any way. If you're one to just blindly do what the doctor says without any real research -- maybe go to him. But know he cannot abide too many questions. I'm not sure what his limit is -- maybe 3 questions max? I was with my wife during her appointments and saw him become agitated simply because she had multiple, specific questions. Maybe it's because we're young. Maybe it's because my wife is black and pro-active about her care. Maybe he just doesn't like to be challenged in any way. But he became very rude and belligerent with my wife in front of his whole staff when she refused to go to the back room with him after his outburst during her procedure. He's not a gentlemen or a professional, but a FRAUD who is incredibly insecure. Don't take a chance with this guy.
