Joshu-ya Brasserie

One could do much better than this place, but only if you are willing to travel a bit. For the neighborhood, it is certainly one of the best spots.

I was really looking forward to eating here but was totally disappointed:(. The food seemed like it has been sitting somewhere for awhile. Ordered hamachi Kama - came out burnt and dried out. Salmon ceviche - more like an underseasoned poke, just chopped up salmon. Pork belly tacos - it was really just cold carnitas on a bed of shredded lettuce, again underseasoned....no cilantro or red onions... then they topped it with Parmesan cheese - definitely not even close to a taco:(. Ordered a few sushi rolls which were average. Finally, got "tempura ice cream" which came with an undercooked and soggy tempura batter. Yikes! Said something to the waitress but who essentially said "sorry..." and walked away. No offer to take it back or even tell the chef. Wasted $150 for 3 people - never going back

delicious Japanese food. I would recommend the chirashi.

Best sushi in all of Berkeley! Yum! The attitude of the staff has changed though since they changed it, but we usually order take-out so. But their bento, and basically all of their sushis are so good!
