        My husband was charged 40% more on his premiums for "health conditions that contribute to bad outcomes". He's in perfect health and plays multiple sports. When we called to ask why he was being charged more, we found out it's because his BMI puts him in the "overweight" category. He's 5'9 and barrel chested and has had an "overweight" BMI since he was in middle school. BMI has been proven by multiple studies to be completely unscientific and even the man who invented said it was for the measurement of populations not individual health. Even if he was actually overweight this is blatant discrimination that we would be able to sue over in any other context. We asked to file a formal complaint and they basically said "no thank you" and hung up. We don't have an option because the healthcare system is predatory and monopolized. But if you do have a choice, choose a different company.
