I would not recommend this company to anyone I know, so beware when you are considering them as a moving option. I am very disappointed with the service, quality, and code of conduct of this company. I had a somewhat pleasant experience to begin things off, but it was all a disguise by the company and it's employees. I completed my interstate move. I was staying temporarily in a rental until the purchase of my home was complete, so when Eli delivered my stuff I didn't unpack it right away. I signed the paperwork and they left. Well a couple months later I unpacked everything and to my astonishment a majority of the furniture was damaged and/or completely destroyed. I had chips in wood, scratches on leather, and broken TVs. I filed a claim with the insurance company and after 4 months of waiting to hear back about what Eli was going to cover for the damage they caused, which totals thousands of dollars in replacements, they denied any compensation. They said it was because I signed the paperwork upon delivery. I am utterly disgusted with this company and the service they have provided. I am now going to try and dispute the claim, but they will probably deny that one too. What a worthless company calling itself a business and the people in charge there.

I was given an initial estimate for moving my entire residence. I was also told by the representative that half would be due at time of move and the other half at drop off. She said the drop off amount had to be cash or money order. I explained that both my fiance and I were military veterans and that we banked with USAA in San Antonio (we are located in Maryland) and it would be difficult to get cash or money order to complete the transaction. She said not to worry about it that they experience this frequently and we would be able to charge the entire amount, due to the circumstances. I was then asked to provide square footage and a list of bulk items in the home to get a better estimate. The estimate changed several times, to include the actual day of the move. All of my items were already packed and loaded and they asked me to sign a 'new' estimate that would serve as the 'contract'. They had already taken my things! I signed it but they said it was a 'high-end estimate' of the total cost. Nonetheless, I got another invoice that was even higher than the 'high-end' estimate. My fiance and I reached out several times to the company trying to get an explanation how our cost was 3 times the amount of the initial estimate but no one could give us an actual answer. Additionally, the 'manager' said that because we didn't get the 'attempted' method of end-of-delivery payment in writing, that we would have to provide cash. That was not what was told to us at first; otherwise, we would have gone with a moving company that was more suited to our needs. The manager and the representatives stopped taking our calls; they no longer corresponded with us as customers. And we still haven't gotten our home goods! COMPLETE bait and switch services!! The manager said that she would give the owner my phone number so he would call me. But she said that he was going to yell at me and give me a piece of his mind. She threatened me to boot. BTW-- "Proud to offer a military discount"--yeah? What was that? The horrible service, the rude and abrasive 'manager', or the complete lack of professionalism? Because I KNOW that there was NO military discount associated with our move....whatever the TRUE price ends up being--both Military Veterans....we were treated like crap. Is the Owner, Eli Pinto (who Roxanne says will call and chew me out for my concerns) a military veteran? Does he know any and/or respect any Veterans? I highly doubt he'd find this 'customer service' acceptable. DON'T DO IT!!

Bottom line up front: DO NOT USE. If you care for your belongings use a company like Atlas, Mayflower, or United Van Lines, or rent a truck and do it yourself. If you want to take a risk and gamble with ELI Relocation expect a low bid followed by an up charge after you book your move with them. Then expect your belongings to be poorly packed and damage when you receive them. Read more if you want a more complete account of our experience. 1) ELI Relocation provided a competitive bid for our move (it was not the cheapest) and we chose them based upon the professionalism of the sales person. However, once the deposit was made to book our move the honeymoon was over. Dealing with the operations staff was nothing but a hassle. Communication was poor to non-existent at times. 2) They said they would show up at our house to start the move on a specific date, so we coordinate to have family available to be there as my wife an I already had to move to our new location. They did not show up on the date they said; however, they did show up the following day. 3) They arrived with a truck that was too small for our belongings, and to make matters worse the "head mover" came in to say that we understated the volume of our belongings (even though I sent them pictures of everything we own room by room to attempt to avoid such problems while coordinating with the sales person) and he increased the cost of the move by about $2000 (51% increase from estimate). Oh and as I mentioned...the truck was too small, so my drum set, our patio furniture, and some planter pots we wanted to keep did not make it. 4) They learned their lesson from previous complaints as the semi that arrived at our house did not have volume markings on the inside of the trailer and the movers started unpacking quickly so there was no way to determine the actual volume of our belongings. 5) The moving service description included climate controlled storage; however, an office chair mat was completely distorted from being rolled and crushed while being stored in hot temperatures. Also, a large candle we own had completely melted in the jar and re-solidified sideways at some point during the move. This could have happened in a non-climate controlled moving truck, but it is worth pointing out that use of the term "climate controlled" is somewhat misleading. 6) We paid for "white glove" service for our 1928 baby grand piano. Which is supposed to include disassembly, packing, and reassembly. Well I guess it really means they build a cheap wooden base to strap it to with no padding around it because when it arrived there was a nice 2 to 3 foot scratch along the back side and the movers (subcontracted to the lowest bidder) stated they would not put the piano back together at our new location. I called ELI Relocation and they offered $250 to "fix the problem"; however, when I went back in the piano room the movers were putting the piano together. So I called ELI back to updated them on the change of heart. One hole about the size of a baseball in the wall (which they covered up with a card board box) and the use of incorrect hardware later we had a piano that was...kind of how it was before the move. Just don't walk by the side of the piano as the incorrect screws they used are sticking out, but they left the remaining hardware that they didn't know what to do with (sound board dampener and the correct hinge screws) sitting on the music stand. 7) The catch basin of our carpet cleaner was crushed on one of the edges, multiple large picture frames we own were scratched, our printer had about 30 pens and pencils jammed on the inside of it. Many boxes we opened looked like the contents were just thrown in the box, and we found multiple boxes that were empty. In summary, I highly recommend that you do not use ELI Relocation for you moving needs. Find a reputable top rated mover that is licensed and bonded, or rent a Uhaul and do it yourself.
