I purchased a Cal Spa spa from Price busters just shy of 4 years ago. Spa developed a plumbing leak recently which was Warranty covered by Cal Spa. Steve and Michelle, new owners, promptly sent out service tech Denis who repaired the leak. I'll be a repeat customer on my next spa purchase.

I took a pump in to buy a seal with the intention of replacing it myself. I had no idea how to change it or which seal it was, so thought taking it in to show them would be the best route. I asked a couple questions and Steve was kind enough to explain the process, however, during the demo of how to change the seal, he had trouble getting the old one out and also noted the brass insert of the impeller was messed up. He suggested leaving it with him and hed try to chase the threads and get that stubborn seal out. Two days later I picked it up with a tab of $150. I took it home, reinstalled it, primed it and up it came right away and perfect. Ran it for about an hour (my tub has a mechanical count-down timer) and everything was good with the world. Two days later my wife and I go to get in the tub, and as soon as I started the pump the seal blew and a huge gush of water came flying out, enough to trip the GFI immediately. So, I pulled the pump and took it back to Price Busters, expecting warranty service. Three days later my wife goes to pick it up and is presented with another bill, this time for $200! Shame on me for assuming they would guarantee their work! I mean, I didnt ask. I just figured it was obviously their responsibility since they did all the work. We walked away. No pump. Im out the original price of the pump plus the $150. I am headed for Amazon where I can buy a new pump with a Warantee for $279. We learned to ask about guaranteed work. Dont just think youre getting it.
